A packaged catheter assembly includes a urinary catheter, a package, and a seal. The urinary catheter has a tube section connected between a proximal end and a distal end, and the proximal end of the urinary catheter is insertable into a urinary bladder. The package contains the urinary catheter and has a proximal compartment section that is removable from a distal section of the package to provide an outlet in the distal section of the package. The seal is arranged between an outer surface of the urinary catheter and an inner surface of the distal section of the package. The seal provides a nearly or truly liquid tight interface between the urinary catheter and the inner surface of the distal section of the package.

What is claimed is: 1. A packaged catheter assembly comprising: a hydrophilic coated urinary catheter having a tube section connected between a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end of the urinary catheter is insertable into a urinary bladder; a package sealed to contain a liquid and an entirety of the hydrophilic coated urinary catheter such that the hydrophilic coated urinary catheter is lubricated by the liquid and maintained in a sterile and non-used configuration inside of the sealed package, the package comprising a proximal compartment section and a distal section, with the proximal compartment section removable from the distal section of the package to provide an outlet in the distal section of the package; a seal arranged between an outer surface of the urinary catheter and an inner surface of the distal section of the package, with the seal adapted to move in relation to the inner surface of the distal section of the package; wherein the seal provides a substantially liquid tight interface between the urinary catheter and the inner surface of the distal section of the package; wherein the seal is a sliding seal adapted to allow the proximal end and at least a portion of the tube section of the urinary catheter to be moved out of the package. 2. The packaged catheter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the seal is connected to the urinary catheter between the tube section and the distal end of the urinary catheter and the seal moves in relation to the inner surface of the distal section of the package. 3. The packaged catheter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the distal end of the urinary catheter includes a hole provided for draining urine out of the urinary catheter. 4. The packaged catheter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the seal is located between the tube section and the distal end of the urinary catheter, and the distal end of the urinary catheter includes a hole provided for draining urine out of the urinary catheter, with the hole located distal of the seal. 5. The packaged catheter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the urinary catheter is adapted for insertion into a female urinary canal and the urinary catheter has a length in a range between 50-90 mm. 6. The packaged catheter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the urinary catheter is adapted for insertion into a male urinary canal and the urinary catheter has a length in a range between 180-250 mm. 7. The packaged catheter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the package is a gas impermeable package. 8. The packaged catheter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the package is a tubular member and the seal is a ring-shaped member arranged between an inner surface of the tubular member and the outer surface of the urinary catheter. 9. The packaged catheter assembly of claim 1 , wherein a distal end of the distal section of the package is provided with a drain, and the drain is provided to allow urine that flows through the urinary catheter to exit the package. 10. The packaged catheter assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a weakened tear line formed between the proximal compartment section and the distal section of the package; wherein the weakened tear line is configured to allow the proximal compartment section to be removed from the distal section of the package. 11. The packaged catheter assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a coupled connection formed between the proximal compartment section and the distal section of the package. 12. A packaged catheter assembly comprising: a hydrophilic coated urinary catheter having a tube section connected between a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end of the urinary catheter is insertable into a urinary bladder; a package sealed to contain a liquid and an entirety of the hydrophilic coated urinary catheter such that the hydrophilic coated urinary catheter is lubricated by the liquid and maintained in a sterile and non-used configuration inside of the sealed package, the package comprising a proximal compartment section and a distal section, with the proximal compartment section removable from the distal section of the package to provide an outlet in the distal section of the package; a seal arranged between an outer surface of the urinary catheter and an inner surface of the distal section of the package; wherein the seal provides a substantially liquid tight interface between the urinary catheter and the inner surface of the distal section of the package; wherein the seal is a sliding seal adapted to allow the proximal end and at least a portion of the tube section of the urinary catheter to be moved out of the package; wherein the seal is connected to the urinary catheter between the tube section and the distal end of the urinary catheter and the seal moves in relation to the inner surface of the distal section of the package.
