A display device includes a substrate having a planar area, a bending area extending from the planar area, and a surrounding area extending from the bending area, a first protective layer at a boundary portion of the bending area, and a second protective layer covering an entire surface of the bending area and covering the first protective layer.

What is claimed is: 1. A display device comprising: a substrate having a first planar area, a second planar area overlapping with the first planar area and a bending area extending from the first planar area to the second planar area, the first planar area comprising a display area within the first planar area; a first protective layer on the substrate and in at least one of the first planar area and the bending area adjacent to the first planar area, and spaced apart from the display area in a plan view; and a second protective layer directly on the first protective layer and spaced apart from the display area in a plan view, wherein, in a cross sectional view perpendicular to the first planar area and the bending area, the second protective layer covers an entirety of the first protective layer and the bending area. 2. The display device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the first protective layer and the second protective layer are at at least a part of the first planar area. 3. The display device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the first protective layer and the second protective layer are at at least a part of the second planar area. 4. The display device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the first protective layer and the second protective layer comprise a photo-curable resin. 5. The display device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the first protective layer extends along a boundary portion of the bending area and has a width of 500 μm to 800 μm. 6. The display device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the first protective layer has a thickness of 30 μm to 70 μm. 7. The display device as claimed in claim 6 , wherein the first protective layer and the second protective layer have a thickness of 70 μm to 130 μm at an overlap area between the first protective layer and the second protective layer. 8. The display device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the first protective layer surrounds a central portion of the bending area. 9. The display device as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising: a gate line on the substrate and at the first planar area; a data line crossing the gate line; and a thin film transistor connected to the gate line and the data line. 10. The display device as claimed in claim 9 , further comprising a driving integrated circuit on the substrate and at the second planar area, wherein the substrate comprises a signal line connected to the gate line or the data line. 11. The display device as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising a support film on a rear surface of the substrate. 12. The display device as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the support film comprises a polyethyleneterephthalate (PET) film. 13. The display device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the second protective layer is directly on the substrate between the display area and the first protective layer in a plan view. 14. The display device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the second protective layer is directly on the substrate of the bending area. 15. The display device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein a height of the first protective layer from the substrate is less than a height of the second protective layer on the substrate of the bending area. 16. The display device as claimed in claim 6 , wherein the second protective layer has a height of 70 μm to 130 μm from the substrate at the bending area. 17. A display device comprising: a substrate having a first planar area, a second planar area overlapping with the first planar area, and a bending area extending from the first planar area to the second planar area, the first planar area comprising a display area within the first planar area; a first protective layer on the substrate and in at least one of the first planar area and the bending area adjacent to the first planar area, and spaced apart from the display area in a plan view; and a second protective layer on the first protective layer and spaced apart from the display area in a plan view, wherein the second protective layer covers the first protective layer and the bending area, and wherein a peak height of the first protective layer from the substrate is less than a peak height of the second protective layer from the substrate.
