A method and device for laser-induced marking. The method comprises providing an article having a marking surface including a non-flat area, providing a first laser transfer foil, providing a first laser unit for emitting first laser light, providing a first hard adaptor that is essentially transparent to the first laser light, the first hard adaptor having a contacting surface that essentially is a negative of at least a part of the marking surface of the article, contacting the first laser transfer foil with the marking surface of the article by the first hard adaptor such that the first laser transfer foil is arranged between the marking surface of the article and the contacting surface of the first hard adaptor, and irradiating the first laser light through the first hard adaptor onto the first laser transfer foil. The device comprises a first laser unit for emitting and scanning first laser light over a first transfer area, a first foil unit for providing a first laser transfer foil at the first transfer area, a carrier for providing an article at the first transfer area, the article having a marking surface comprising a non-flat surface area, a first hard adaptor that is transparent for the first laser light, the first hard adapter having a first contacting surface that is essentially a negative of the non-flat surface area of the marking surface, and a contacting unit for bringing the first laser transfer foil in contact with the marking surface by causing the first contacting surface to move one of the first laser transfer foil and the marking surface towards one another.

What is claimed is: 1. A method of laser-induced marking of an article comprising: providing an article having a marking surface comprising a non-flat portion to be marked; providing a first laser transfer foil carrying at least a first dye; providing a first laser unit emitting first laser light; providing a first foil support block comprising a material having an optical transparency to the first laser light, the first foil support block having a contacting surface that essentially is shaped as a negative of a shape of at least a first part of the marking surface; contacting the first laser transfer foil with the marking surface by the first foil support block such that the first laser transfer foil is arranged between the first part of the marking surface of the article and the contacting surface of the first foil support block; and marking the first part of the marking surface of the article by irradiating the first laser light through the first foil support block onto the first laser transfer foil at least until at least a portion of the first dye is transferred from the first laser transfer foil to the first part of the marking surface of the article. 2. The method in accordance with claim 1 , further comprising: separating the first foil support block and the first laser transfer foil from the article; moving the first laser transfer foil relative to the article; again contacting the first laser transfer foil with the marking surface by the first foil support block such that the first laser transfer foil is arranged between the first part of the marking surface of the article and the contacting surface of the first foil support block; and again marking the first part of the marking surface of the article by irradiating the first laser light through the first foil support block onto the first laser transfer foil at least until at least one of (i) a next portion of the first dye and (ii) a portion of a second dye is transferred from the first laser transfer foil to the first part of the marking surface of the article. 3. The method in accordance with claim 2 , wherein the first laser transfer foil has at least two areas of different dyes. 4. The method in accordance with claim 1 , further comprising: separating the first foil support block and the first laser transfer foil from the article; providing a second laser transfer foil having a second dye different than the first laser transfer foil; contacting the second laser transfer foil with the marking surface of the article by the first foil support block such that the second laser transfer foil is arranged between the first part of the marking surface of the article and the contacting surface of the first foil support block; and again marking the first part of the marking surface of the article by irradiating the first laser light through the first foil support block onto the second laser transfer foil at least until at least a portion of the second dye is transferred from the second laser transfer foil to the first part of the marking surface of the article. 5. The method in accordance with claim 1 , further comprising: separating the first foil support block and the first laser transfer foil from the article; providing a second foil support block comprising a material having an optical transparency to at least one of the first laser light and a second laser light, having a contacting surface that is essentially shaped as a negative of a shape of at least a second part of the marking surface of the article; and contacting at least one of the first laser transfer foil and a second laser transfer foil with the marking surface by the second hard adaptor such that the at least one first and second laser transfer foil is arranged between the second part of the marking surface of the article and the contacting surface of the second hard adaptor. 6. The method in accordance with claim 1 , further comprising providing a deformable material layer having an optical transparency to the first laser light between the first foil support block and the first laser transfer foil. 7. The method in accordance with claim 6 , wherein the deformable material layer has a thickness between about 0.05 mm and about 5.0 mm. 8. The method in accordance with claim 6 , wherein the deformable material layer is made from a thermoplastic elastomer having an optical transparency to the first laser light. 9. The method in accordance with claim 6 , further comprising replacing the deformable material layer after one or more uses of the deformable material layer with a new deformable material layer. 10. The method in accordance with claim 6 , wherein the deformable material layer is permanently connected with the first foil support block. 11. The method in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the marking surface comprises a plastic material. 12. The method in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the first laser light has a wavelength of between about 100 nm and about 20000 nm. 13. The method in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the first laser light has a wavelength of between about 150 nm and about 1200 nm. 14. The method in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the first foil support block material is selected from amorphous material, crystalline glass material, ceramic material, plastic material, and any combination thereof. 15. The method in accordance with claim 1 , wherein, during the contacting step, the marking surface of the article is deformed. 16. The method in accordance with claim 1 , wherein, during the contacting step, a central region of the first part of the marking surface is contacted first, pushing air outwards from the central region.
