A battery, comprising a cathode comprising a cathode material in contact with a cathode current collector. The battery also comprises an electrolyte. The battery also comprises an anode comprising an electroplated homogeneous solid metallic alloy comprising 100 ppm to 1000 ppm Bi and 100 ppm to 1000 ppm In, and a remainder Zn.

What is claimed is: 1. A battery, comprising: a cathode comprising a cathode material and in contact with a cathode current collector, wherein the cathode current collector comprises a transparent conducting oxide (TCO); an electrolyte; and an anode comprising a homogeneous solid composed of a metallic alloy comprising 100 ppm to 1000 ppm Bi, 100 ppm to 1000 ppm In, and a remainder Zn. 2. The battery of claim 1 , wherein a concentration of In is in a range of 100 ppm to 500 ppm and a concentration of Bi is in a range of 100 ppm to 500 ppm. 3. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the homogeneous solid has a resistivity in a range of about 5×10 −8 to 6×10 −8 ohm-m. 4. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the electrolyte comprises one or more of the following: zinc chloride, zinc acetate, potassium hydroxide, and ammonium chloride. 5. The battery of claim 1 , wherein a thickness of the anode is in a range of 1 micron to 50 microns. 6. The battery of claim 1 , wherein a potential for an onset of hydrogen evolution as measured on a cyclic voltammetry curve is less than −1.6V relative to Hg/HgO for a KOH solution. 7. A battery, comprising: a cathode comprising a cathode material and in contact with a cathode current collector; an electrolyte; and an anode comprising a homogeneous solid composed of a metallic alloy comprising 100 ppm to 1000 ppm Bi, 100 ppm to 1000 ppm In, and the remainder Zn, wherein the battery has a volume less than 1 cubic mm. 8. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the battery has a flexibility defined by a radius of curvature of between about 4 mm and about 20 mm. 9. A battery, comprising: a cathode comprising a cathode material and in contact with a cathode current collector; an electrolyte; and an anode comprising a homogeneous solid composed of a metallic alloy comprising 100 ppm to 1000 ppm Bi, 100 ppm to 1000 ppm In, and the remainder Zn, wherein the battery has a thickness of less than about 150 microns. 10. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the battery has an open circuit voltage of between 1.4V and 1.8V and has a discharge capacity of between 10 uA-hours and 200 uA-hours. 11. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the electrolyte has a pH in the range of 3 to 7. 12. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the battery has a shape of an arc. 13. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the cathode comprises one or more of the following: NiOOH and MnO 2 . 14. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the transparent conducting oxide comprises one or more of the following: indium tin oxide (ITO), indium zinc oxide (IZO), Al-doped zinc oxide (AZO), and Ga-doped zinc oxide (GZO).
