What is claimed is: 1. Channel framing assembly comprising: a piece of channel framing comprising an elongate channel framing body having a longitudinal axis and defining an interior extending along the longitudinal axis, the channel framing body including a first side defining a continuous slot extending lengthwise of the channel framing body and into the interior of the channel framing body, a second side adjacent the first side and defining a first external fitting groove extending lengthwise of the channel framing body, and a third side adjacent the first side, generally opposing the second side, and defining a second external fitting groove extending lengthwise of the channel framing body; and a fitting secured to the channel framing body, the fitting comprising a first clip arm including a first hook extending into the first external fitting groove of the second side of the channel framing body and clipped onto the channel framing body, a second clip arm including a second hook extending into the second external fitting groove of the third side of the channel framing body and clipped onto the channel framing body, and an outer portion connected to and extending between the first and second clip arms, wherein the outer portion spans across the continuous slot of the first side of the channel framing body. 2. The channel framing assembly set forth in claim 1 , further comprising a threaded rod secured to the fitting. 3. The channel framing assembly set forth in claim 2 , wherein the fitting includes a fastening member on the outer portion, the fastening member having a threaded opening in which the threaded rod is threadably secured. 4. The channel framing assembly set forth in claim 1 , wherein the fitting comprises an outer component and an inner component, wherein the outer component includes the first clip arm and a first extension member extending laterally inward from the first flip arm, wherein the inner component includes the second clip arm and a second extension member extending laterally inward from the second clip arm, wherein the outer extension member overlaps the inner extension member to form the outer portion of the fitting. 5. Channel framing assembly comprising: a piece of channel framing comprising an elongate channel framing body having a longitudinal axis and defining an interior extending along the longitudinal axis, the channel faming body including a first side defining a continuous slot extending lengthwise of the channel framing body and into the interior of the channel framing body, a second side generally opposing the first side and defining a external fitting groove extending lengthwise of the channel framing body, and a third side adjacent and interconnecting the first and second sides; and a fitting secured to the channel framing, the fitting comprising a first clip arm including a first hook extending into the continuous slot of the first side of the channel framing body and clipped onto the channel framing body, a second clip arm including a second hook extending into the external fitting groove of the second side of the channel framing body and clipped onto the channel framing body, and an outer portion connected to and extending between the first and second clip arms, wherein the outer portion spans across the third side of the channel framing body. 6. The channel framing assembly set forth in claim 5 , further comprising a threaded rod secured to the fitting. 7. The channel framing assembly set forth in claim 6 , wherein the fitting includes a fastening member on the outer portion, the fastening member having a threaded opening in which the threaded rod is threadably secured. 8. The channel framing assembly set forth in claim 5 , wherein the fitting comprises an outer component and an inner component, wherein the outer component includes the first clip arm and a first extension member extending laterally inward from the first flip arm, wherein the inner component includes the second clip arm and a second extension member extending laterally inward from the second clip arm, wherein the first extension member overlaps the second extension member to form the outer portion of the fitting. 9. Channel framing assembly comprising: a piece of channel framing comprising an elongate channel framing body having a longitudinal axis and defining an interior extending along the longitudinal axis, the channel framing body including a first side, a second side adjacent the first side and defining a first external fitting groove extending lengthwise of the channel framing body, and a third side adjacent the first side, generally opposing the second side, and defining a second external fitting groove extending lengthwise of the channel framing body; and a fitting secured to the channel framing body, the fitting comprising a first clip arm including a first hook extending into the first external fitting groove of the second side of the channel framing body and clipped onto the channel framing body, a second clip arm including a second hook extending into the second external fitting groove of the third side of the channel framing body and clipped onto the channel framing body, and an outer portion connected to and extending between the first and second clip arms, wherein the outer portion spans across the continuous slot of the first side of the channel framing body. 10. The channel framing assembly set forth in claim 9 , further comprising a threaded rod secured to the fitting. 11. The channel framing assembly set forth in claim 10 , wherein the fitting includes a fastening member on the outer portion, the fastening member having a threaded opening in which the threaded rod is threadably secured. 12. The channel framing assembly set forth in claim 9 , wherein the fitting comprises an outer component and an inner component, wherein the outer component includes the first clip arm and a first extension member extending laterally inward from the first flip arm, wherein the inner component includes the second clip arm and a second extension member extending laterally inward from the second clip arm, wherein the first extension member overlaps the second extension member to form the outer portion of the fitting. 13. The channel framing assembly set forth in claim 9 , wherein in the fitting is an integrally formed, one-piece construction.
