Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

The invention is directed to a method and system for providing an interface including modular customizable elements for implementation by a system user. The method and system have particular application for financial accounts, such as credit card accounts. The interface may adapt in response to user behaviors. However, the user may also customize features of the interface. Thus, a behavioral monitoring and analysis system is provided for monitoring account holder spending behaviors and analyzing the spending behaviors. Account holder customization tools may be presented to the account holders through a user interface, the account holder customization tools allowing account holders to modify a user interface display of account related parameters by inputting parameters into a computing system. An experience customization engine may be implemented by a processor for receiving input from both the behavioral monitoring and analysis system and the account holder customization tools.

The invention claimed is: 1. A computer-implemented customizable account interface system for a financial account comprising: at least one computer memory storing account holder transaction data for an account holder associated with the financial account, the transaction data including at least a transaction amount, merchant, and transaction date for a transaction, the computer memory further being operable to store aggregate transaction data for more than one transaction; a behavioral monitoring system operable to receive transaction data as generated by account holder transactions; account holder customization tools presented to the account holder through a user interface, the account holder customization tools being accessible and addressable over a network, and further allowing an account holder to modify a user interface display of account related parameters; and at least one computer processor accessing the computer memory and executing instructions to perform steps including: receiving account holder input over the network comprising generation of a transaction category viewable on the user interface, providing a threshold interface and receiving account holder input through the threshold interface to set a spending threshold for the transaction category, processing the account holder input and applying the account holder input to the stored aggregate transaction data and the transaction data received from the behavioral monitoring system and comparing the stored aggregate transaction and the received transaction data to the user spending threshold, generating a graphical display based on the application of the account holder input to the stored aggregate transaction data and the transaction data received from the behavioral monitoring system, wherein the graphical display comprises a visual representation of the aggregate transaction data organized by at least the account holder input, triggering an alert based on the comparison of the aggregate transaction and the received transaction data to the user spending threshold, and generating a pop-up message, in response to triggering the alert, to display the comparison of the aggregate and received transaction data to the spending threshold for the transaction category, the pop-up message viewable on the user interface in conjunction with the graphical display, wherein the pop-up message is associated with the user-created transaction category and the spending threshold to provide a comparison of total spending in the transaction category represented by the stored aggregate transaction data and the received transaction data to the spending threshold for the transaction category, wherein the pop-up message functions as a status indicator to provide a message and a link for accessing the user account, and as a fraud protection system specified by the account holder. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein more than one account holder is associated with the financial account. 3. The system of claim 2 , wherein graphical display comprises a visual representation of the aggregate transaction data further organized by account holder. 4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the graphical display comprises a side-by-side visual representation for each account holder. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the stored aggregate transaction data is used to predict future spending behavior for the account holder. 6. A computer-implemented method for customizing an account interface system for a financial account, the method comprising: storing, in at least one computer memory, account holder transaction data for an account holder associated with the financial account, the transaction data including at least a transaction amount, merchant, and transaction date for a transaction, the computer memory further being operable to store aggregate transaction data for more than one transaction; receiving, at a behavioral monitoring system, transaction data as generated by account holder transactions; receiving account holder input comprising generation of a transaction category viewable on a user interface; providing a threshold interface and receiving account holder input through the threshold interface to set a spending threshold for the transaction category; processing the account holder input and applying the account holder input to the stored aggregate transaction data and the transaction data received from the behavioral monitoring system and comparing the stored aggregate transaction data and the received transaction data to the user spending threshold; executing instructions on at least one computer processor to generate a graphical display based on the application of the account holder input to the stored aggregate transaction data and the transaction data received from the behavioral monitoring system, wherein the graphical display comprises a visual representation of the aggregate transaction data organized by at least the account holder input; and triggering an alert based on the comparison of the aggregate transaction and the received transaction data to the user spending threshold, and generating a pop-up message, in response to triggering the alert, to display the comparison of the aggregate and received transaction data to the spending threshold for the transaction category, the pop-up message viewable on the user interface in conjunction with the graphical display, wherein the pop-up message is associated with the user-created transaction category and the spending threshold to provide a comparison of total spending in the transaction category represented by the stored aggregate transaction data and the received transaction data to the spending threshold for the transaction category, wherein the pop-up message functions as a status indicator to provide a message and a link for accessing the user account and as a fraud protection system specified by the account holder. 7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the stored aggregate transaction data is used to predict future spending behavior for the account holder. 8. The method of claim 6 , wherein the pop-up message further comprises a hyperlink allowing the user to access the transaction data. 9. The method of claim 6 , wherein the at least one computer memory is operable to store account holder transaction data for more than one financial account. 10. The method of claim 9 , wherein transaction data further comprises credit card account information. 11. A computer-implemented customizable account interface system for a financial account comprising: at least one computer memory storing account holder transaction data for an account holder associated with the financial account, the transaction data including at least a transaction amount, merchant, and transaction date for a transaction, the computer memory further being operable to store aggregate transaction data for more than one transaction; a behavioral monitoring system operable to receive transaction data as generated by account holder transactions; account holder customization tools presented to the account holder through a user interface, the account holder customization tools allowing an account holder to modify a user interface display of account related parameters by creating a transaction category; and at least one computer processor accessing the computer memory and executing instructions to perform steps including: capturing merchant receipt data over a network, the merchant receipt data including an image of a receipt corresponding with a transaction, displaying the merchant receipt data on the user interface, receiving, over the network, account holder input for generation of the transaction category viewable on the user interface,
