An exterior rearview mirror assembly configured for mounting at an exterior portion of a vehicle includes a mounting arm configured for attachment at the vehicle, a mirror head disposed at an outboard end of the mounting arm and movable relative to the mounting arm, and an actuator operable to move the mirror head relative to the mounting arm. The mirror head includes a mirror casing and a frameless mirror reflective element fixedly attached at the mirror casing, with no part of the mirror casing disposed over the front surface of the mirror reflective element. The actuator is operable to move the mirror head relative to the mounting arm to vertically and horizontally adjust a rearward field of view of the driver of the vehicle who is viewing the mirror reflective element with the exterior rearview mirror assembly mounted at the vehicle.

The invention claimed is: 1. An exterior rearview mirror assembly configured for mounting at an exterior portion of a vehicle, said exterior rearview mirror assembly comprising: a mounting arm configured for attachment at an exterior portion of a vehicle equipped with said exterior rearview mirror assembly; a mirror head disposed at an outboard end of said mounting arm and movable relative to said mounting arm; wherein said mirror head comprises a mirror casing and a mirror reflective element fixedly attached at an attachment portion of said mirror head and fixed relative to said mirror casing; wherein said mirror reflective element comprises a glass substrate having a front surface that is exposed to and is viewable by a driver of the equipped vehicle who is viewing said mirror reflective element with said exterior rearview mirror assembly mounted at the exterior portion of the equipped vehicle; wherein said mirror reflective element comprises a frameless mirror reflective element, and wherein no part of said mirror casing is disposed over said front surface of said glass substrate of said mirror reflective element; an actuator operable to move said mirror head relative to said mounting arm; wherein, when said actuator is operated to move said mirror head relative to said mounting arm, said mirror reflective element moves in tandem with movement of said mirror head relative to said mounting arm; and wherein said actuator is operable to move said mirror head relative to said mounting arm to vertically and horizontally adjust a rearward field of view of the driver of the equipped vehicle who is viewing said mirror reflective element with said exterior rearview mirror assembly mounted at the exterior portion of the equipped vehicle. 2. The exterior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1 , wherein said exterior rearview mirror assembly comprises a breakaway exterior rearview mirror assembly, and wherein said exterior rearview mirror assembly is manually adjustable between a use position, where said mirror head is extended from the exterior portion of the vehicle for providing the rearward field of view to the driver of the equipped vehicle who is viewing said mirror reflective element with said exterior rearview mirror assembly mounted at the exterior portion of the equipped vehicle, and a folded position, where said mirror head is nearer to the exterior portion of the vehicle. 3. The exterior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1 , wherein said actuator is at least partially encased by said mirror casing. 4. The exterior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1 , wherein said actuator comprises first and second motors. 5. The exterior rearview mirror assembly of claim 4 , wherein said first and second motors are independently operable. 6. The exterior rearview mirror assembly of claim 4 , wherein said first and second motors are operable at different rotational speeds to move said mirror head to adjust the rearward field of view of the driver of the equipped vehicle who is viewing said mirror reflective element with said exterior rearview mirror assembly mounted at the exterior portion of the equipped vehicle. 7. The exterior rearview mirror assembly of claim 4 , wherein said first motor rotatably drives a first output shaft having a first axis, and wherein said second motor rotatably drives a second output shaft having a second axis, and wherein said first and second axes are angled relative to one another. 8. The exterior rearview mirror assembly of claim 7 , wherein said first and second axes are at an angle of between 15 degrees and 90 degrees relative to one another. 9. The exterior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1 , wherein said attachment portion of said mirror head is part of said mirror casing. 10. The exterior rearview mirror assembly of claim 9 , wherein said mirror casing attaches at a portion of said mounting arm that is remote from said attachment portion. 11. The exterior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1 , wherein said mirror head houses at least one accessory that is disposed in said mirror casing of said mirror head and behind said mirror reflective element. 12. The exterior rearview mirror assembly of claim 11 , wherein said at least one accessory comprises a camera. 13. The exterior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1 , wherein said mounting arm is configured for attachment at a driver side vehicle door of the equipped vehicle, and wherein said glass substrate comprises a flat glass substrate. 14. The exterior rearview mirror assembly of claim 13 , wherein said mirror reflective element comprises an electrochromic reflective element having a front glass substrate and a rear substrate with an electrochromic medium sandwiched therebetween in an interpane cavity bounded by a perimeter seal, and wherein said front glass substrate comprises said glass substrate having said front surface that is exposed to and is viewable by the driver of the equipped vehicle who is viewing said mirror reflective element with said exterior rearview mirror assembly mounted at the exterior portion of the equipped vehicle. 15. The exterior rearview mirror assembly of claim 14 , wherein said front glass substrate comprises a rounded front perimeter along a perimeter circumference of said front surface of said front glass substrate. 16. The exterior rearview mirror assembly of claim 15 , wherein said rounded front perimeter of said front glass substrate has a radius of curvature of at least 2.5 mm. 17. The exterior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1 , wherein said mounting arm is configured for attachment at a passenger side vehicle door of the equipped vehicle, and wherein said glass substrate comprises a curved glass substrate. 18. The exterior rearview mirror assembly of claim 17 , wherein said mirror reflective element comprises an electrochromic reflective element having a front glass substrate and a rear substrate with an electrochromic medium sandwiched therebetween in an interpane cavity bounded by a perimeter seal, and wherein said front glass substrate comprises said glass substrate having said front surface that is exposed to and is viewable by the driver of the equipped vehicle who is viewing said mirror reflective element with said exterior rearview mirror assembly mounted at the exterior portion of the equipped vehicle. 19.
