A display device includes a plurality of light-emitting elements aligned on a TFT substrate in a formation of a matrix. The plurality of light-emitting elements each have a flat surface portion and including a light-emitting layer, an anode, and a cathode, an insulating layer formed on the TFT substrate and under the light emitting element, and a tilted metal surface provided on a peripheral area surrounding the flat surface portion of the light-emitting element and having a tilt angle with respect to the flat surface portion of the light-emitting element. The tilted metal surface is provided on a surface of a slope of a bank that is provided on the insulation layer, and a width of a cross-section of the bank becomes smaller as the cross section conies farther away from a surface of the TFT substrate. A counter substrate is placed on the TFT substrate.

What is claimed is: 1. A light-emitting element having picture elements comprising: a bank surrounding a central area and including a slope; a metal cathode overlaying the slope; an anode formed in the central area; and an organic layer including a light-emitting layer formed on the anode in the central area, wherein the organic layer is separated corresponding to each of the picture elements. 2. The light-emitting element according to claim 1 , further comprising: an electron transporting layer between the metal cathode and the light-emitting layer and a hole transporting layer between the electron transporting layer and the anode. 3. The light-emitting element according to claim 1 , further comprising: an optical waveguide layer surrounded by the bank. 4. The light-emitting element according to claim 1 , wherein the anode is a transparent electrode. 5. The light-emitting element according to claim 1 , further comprising: a metal film deposited on the anode. 6. The light-emitting element according to claim 1 , further comprising a substrate, wherein the bank has a cross sectional shape of a narrower width measured at a point farther from the substrate, and the bank has the slope at each of side areas. 7. The light-emitting element according to claim 1 , wherein the organic layer is formed in a form of an island and overlaps with the anode. 8. The light-emitting element according to claim 1 , wherein the picture elements are configured to emit respective red-, green- and blue-light. 9. The light-emitting element according to claim 1 , wherein the organic layer is configured to be divided into a red-color pixel, a green-color pixel and a blue-color pixel. 10. The light-emitting element according to claim 1 , wherein the picture elements are aligned in a predetermined order in a matrix formation. 11. The light-emitting element according to claim 1 , wherein the bank functions as a torus isolating an area of the picture element. 12. The light-emitting element according to claim 1 , further comprising: a seal-off material on the metal cathode, wherein lights emitted from the light emitting layer pass through the seal-off material. 13. The light-emitting element according to claim 12 , wherein viewers see the lights after passing the seal-off material.
