The invention claimed is: 1. A method for preparing shikimic acid from oil palm, the method comprising: treating the oil palm with glyphosate; and obtaining an extract comprising shikimic acid from oil palm based materials of the oil palm without using solvents. 2. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein said oil palm based materials is palm oil mill effluent (POME). 3. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein said oil palm based materials is palm oil vegetation liquor. 4. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein said oil palm based materials comprises stems, pulps, seeds, trunks, fruitlets, fruit bunches, or fronds of the oil palm. 5. The method as claimed in claim 2 , wherein a yield of shikimic acid is 0.1% to 1% of the dry weight of the POME.
