Official abstract text for this publication.
A computer-implemented method includes displaying, within a user interface, a view pane having a vertical direction and a horizontal direction, displaying, within the view pane, a plurality of poster frames, each poster frame representing a corresponding media item, a first poster frame being displayed as positioned in a first row extending across the event view pane in the horizontal direction such that the first poster frame is displayed substantially adjacent to a first vertical edge of the event view pane and subsequent poster frames are displayed substantially adjacent to one another in the first row until a poster frame in the first row is displayed substantially adjacent to a second vertical edge of the event view pane, and displaying a next poster frame in a second row vertically displaced from the first row. Photographs in a poster frame can be previewed by moving a cursor across the poster frame.

What is claimed is: 1. A computer-implemented method, comprising: displaying, within a user interface, a view pane having a vertical direction and a horizontal direction; displaying, within the view pane, a poster frame represented by a bounded region, the poster frame representing a container, the container comprising a plurality of objects; in response to input: splitting the poster frame into two split poster frames, each split poster frame displayed in the view pane; associating with a first of the two split poster frames, a subset of the plurality of objects, the subset including less than all of the plurality of objects; associating with a second of the two split poster frames, a remainder of the plurality of objects, the remainder excluding objects included in the subset; displaying the first of the two split poster frames and the second of the two split poster frames in the view pane in place of the poster frame; and in response to detecting a positioning of a position indicator outside the bounded region, displaying a default object of the plurality of objects within the poster frame. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more objects comprise one or more of photographs in a digital or digitized format and electronic images. 3. The method of claim 2 , wherein a position of a cursor over the poster frame corresponds to an object in the container. 4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the object corresponding to the position of the cursor is displayed within the bounded region of the poster frame. 5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the objects in the container are stored in a sequence and the split poster frame comprises objects from the start of the sequence to the object displayed within the bounded region. 6. The method of claim 4 , wherein the position of the cursor can be altered based on user input. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the input is a key stroke on a key board. 8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user interface can be transmitted over a network. 9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the objects displayed in the user interface can be accessed from a remote location connected to the network. 10. A medium bearing instructions to enable one or more machines to perform operations comprising: displaying, within a user interface, a view pane having a vertical direction and a horizontal direction; displaying, within the view pane, a poster frame represented by a bounded region, the poster frame representing a container, the container comprising a plurality of objects; detecting a selection of a position in the poster frame, wherein the position corresponds to an object in the container; receiving an input to split the poster frame into a first split poster frame and a second split poster frame; in response to receiving the input: splitting the poster frame into the first split poster frame and the second split poster frame, the first split poster frame representing a first split container comprising a subset of the plurality of objects, the subset including the object to which the position in the poster frame corresponds, the second split poster frame representing a second split container comprising a remainder of the plurality of objects and excluding the subset of the plurality of objects included in the first split container, and displaying the first split poster frame and the second split poster frame in the view pane; and in response to detecting a selection of a position outside the poster frame, displaying a default object of the plurality of objects within the poster frame. 11. The medium of claim 10 , wherein the one or more objects comprise one or more of photographs in a digital or digitized format and electronic images. 12. The medium of claim 11 , wherein detecting a selection of the position in the poster frame comprises detecting a positioning of a cursor over the poster frame at the position. 13. The medium of claim 12 , wherein the object corresponding to the position of the cursor is displayed within the bounded region of the poster frame in response to detecting the positioning of the cursor over the poster frame at the position. 14. The medium of claim 13 , wherein the objects in the container are stored in a sequence, wherein the first split poster frame comprises objects from the start of the sequence to the object to which the position in the poster frame corresponds. 15. The medium of claim 13 , wherein the position of the cursor can be altered based on user input. 16. The medium of claim 10 , wherein the input is a key stroke on a key board. 17. The medium of claim 10 , wherein the user interface can be transmitted over a network. 18. The medium of claim 10 , wherein the objects displayed in the user interface can be accessed from a remote location connected to the network. 19. A system comprising: one or more processors; and a computer-readable medium storing instructions executable by the one or more processors to perform operations comprising: displaying, within a user interface, a view pane having a vertical direction and a horizontal direction; displaying, within the view pane, a poster frame represented by a bounded region, the poster frame representing a container, the container comprising a plurality of objects, wherein each of a plurality of positions within the bounded region correspond to each object of the plurality of objects; determining a scrolling of a position indicator across the plurality of positions the poster frame, wherein in response to determining the scrolling of the position indicator, the plurality of objects, one object at a time, within the bounded region; detecting a positioning of the position indicator at a position of the plurality of positions within the bounded region, the position being between and different from a start position and an end position within the bounded region; displaying, within the bounded region, an object that corresponds to the position at which the positioning of the position indicator is detected; while the position indicator is at the position and while the object is displayed within the bounded region, receiving an input to split the poster frame into a first split poster frame and a second split poster frame; in response to receiving the input: splitting the poster frame into the first split poster frame and the second split poster frame, the first split poster frame representing a first split container comprising a subset of the plurality of objects comprising a first object that corresponds to the start position of the position indicator and the object that corresponds to the position, the second split poster frame representing a second split container comprising a remainder of the plurality of objects and excluding the objects in the first split poster frame; and displaying the first split poster frame and the second split poster frame in the view pane. 20. The system of claim 19 , wherein the objects in the container are stored in a sequence, wherein the first split poster frame comprises objects from the start of the sequence to the object that corresponds to the position, wherein the remainder of the plurality of objects comprises an object that follows, in the sequence, the object that corresponds to the position to an object at an end of the sequence. 21. The system of claim 19 , wherein the operations further comprise, in response to determining a positioning of the position indicator outside the poster frame, displaying a default object of the pl
