The invention claimed is: 1. A semiconducting material comprising: at least one matrix compound, wherein the matrix compound comprises at least one phosphepine ring. 2. The semiconducting material according to claim 1 , wherein the matrix compound further comprises a dopant. 3. The semiconducting material according to claim 2 , wherein the dopant is a metal, a metal salt or a metal complex. 4. The semiconducting material according to claim 3 , wherein the metal complex has formula (II): wherein A 1 is a C 6 -C 30 arylene or C 2 -C 30 heteroarylene comprising at least one atom selected from O, S or N in an aromatic ring, and each of A 2 -A 3 is independently selected from a C 6 -C 30 aryl or C 2 -C 30 heteroaryl comprising at least one atom selected from O, S, or N in an aromatic ring. 5. The semiconducting material according to claim 4 , wherein in formula (II), A 1 is phenylene, and/or the substituents A 2 and A 3 are selected from phenyl or pyridyl. 6. The semiconducting material according to claim 3 , wherein the dopant is the metal complex, and the metal complex is a compound comprising at least one ligand attached to a metal atom through at least one oxygen atom and through at least one nitrogen atom; and the metal atom, oxygen atom, and nitrogen atom are members of a 5-, 6-, or 7-membered ring. 7. The semiconducting material according to claim 6 , wherein the ligand is an 8-hydroxyquinolinolato ligand. 8. The semiconducting material according to claim 2 , wherein the dopant is an electrical dopant. 9. The semiconducting material according to claim 8 , wherein the electrical dopant is an n-dopant. 10. The semiconducting material according to claim 1 , wherein the phosphepine ring is a phosphepine-1-oxide ring. 11. The semiconducting material according to claim 10 , wherein the phosphepine compound has formula (I): wherein R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are independently selected from C 1 -C 30 -alkyl, C 3 -C 30 cycloalkyl, C 2 -C 30 -heteroalkyl, C 6 -C 30 -aryl, C 2 -C 30 -heteroaryl, C 1 -C 30 -alkoxy, C 3 -C 30 -cycloalkyloxy, or C 6 -C 30 -aryloxy, wherein at least two of the substituents R 1 , R 2 , and R 3 are linked together in a manner forming at least part of the phosphepine ring. 12. An electronic device comprising: a cathode, an anode, and the semiconducting material according to claim 1 , wherein the semiconducting material is arranged between the cathode and the anode. 13. The electronic device according to claim 12 , wherein the device further comprises at least one of an electron transporting layer or an electron injecting layer, and the semiconducting material is present in at least one of the electron transporting layer or the electron injecting layer. 14. The electronic device according to claim 13 , wherein the device is a light emitting device.
