The present invention provides novel polymeric amine compositions employing amine compounds having multiple tertiary amine groups. Methods of making these new compositions are also disclosed. Amine compositions and amine-epoxy compositions employing the polymeric amine compositions of the present invention are also provided.

We claim: 1. A composition comprising polymeric amine compounds having the formula: wherein: each R A independently is a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 12 linear or branched alkyl, wherein the substituents on the alkyl independently are at least one occurrence of R A is a substituted C 1 -C 12 linear or branched alkyl, wherein the substituents on the alkyl independently are each R B independently is an unsubstituted C 3 -C 8 linear or branched alkanediyl; each X is R E —H; R E is an unsubstituted C 1 -C 8 linear or branched alkanediyl; the polymeric amine composition has a number-average molecular weight (Mn) from about 250 to about 1500; and n is an integer in a range from 0 to 10, inclusive. 2. A composition comprising: (i) a polymeric amine composition comprising amine compounds having the formula: wherein: each R A independently is a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 12 linear or branched alkyl, wherein the substituents on the alkyl independently are at least one occurrence of R A is a substituted C 1 -C 12 linear or branched alkyl, wherein the substituents on the alkyl independently are each R B independently is an unsubstituted C 3 -C 8 linear or branched alkanediyl; each X is R E —H; R E is an unsubstituted C 1 -C 8 linear or branched alkanediyl; the polymeric amine composition has a number-average molecular weight (M n ) from about 250 to about 1500; and n is an integer in a range from 0 to 10, inclusive; and (ii) at least one amine having 2 or more active amine hydrogens. 3. The composition of claim 2 , wherein R A is a substituted C 1 linear or branched alkyl and R E is a C 1 alkanediyl. 4. The composition of claim 2 , wherein the polymeric amine composition has a M n , from about 300 to about 800. 5. The composition of claim 2 , wherein the polymeric amine composition has an amine hydrogen equivalent weight (AHEW) from about 40 to about 500. 6. The composition of claim 2 , wherein the polymeric amine composition has an amine hydrogen equivalent weight (AHEW) from about 60 to about 250. 7. The composition of claim 2 , wherein the amine compounds of the polymeric amine composition comprise a derivative thereof which is a polyamide derivative, an amidoamine derivative, an amine-epoxy adduct derivative, or any combination thereof. 8. The composition of claim 2 , wherein the at least one amine has 6 or more carbon atoms. 9. The composition of claim 2 , wherein the at least one amine is an aliphatic amine, a cycloaliphatic amine, an aromatic amine, a Mannich base derivative of an aliphatic amine, a cycloaliphatic amine, or an aromatic amine, a polyamide derivative of an aliphatic amine, a cycloaliphatic amine, or an aromatic amine, an amidoamine derivative of an aliphatic amine, a cycloaliphatic amine, or an aromatic amine, an amine adduct derivative of an aliphatic amine, a cycloaliphatic amine, or an aromatic amine, or any combination thereof. 10. The composition of claim 2 , wherein the at least one amine is a mixture of methylene bridged poly(cyclohexyl-aromatic)amines. 11. An amine-epoxy composition comprising the contact product of: (I) composition of claim 2 ; and (II) an epoxy component comprising at least one multifunctional epoxy resin. 12. The amine-epoxy composition of claim 11 , wherein the stoichiometric ratio of epoxy groups in the epoxy component to reactive hydrogens in the polymeric amine composition ranges from about 1.5:1 to about 1:1.5. 13. The amine-epoxy composition of claim 11 , wherein the stoichiometric ratio of epoxy groups in the epoxy component to reactive hydrogens in the polymeric amine composition ranges from about 1.3:1 to about 1:1.3. 14. The amine-epoxy composition of claim 11 , wherein the polymeric amine composition has a M n from about 300 to about 800. 15. The amine-epoxy composition of claim 11 , wherein the polymeric amine composition further comprises at least one multifunctional amine having 3 or more active amine hydrogens. 16. A method comprising curing the amine-epoxy composition of claim 11 . 17. An article of manufacture comprising the amine-epoxy composition of claim 11 . 18. The article of claim 17 , wherein the article is a coating, an adhesive, a construction product, a flooring product, or a composite product. 19. The composition of claim 2 wherein R B is a C3 linear or branched alkanediyl. 20. The composition of claim 19 wherein R E is an unsubstituted C1 linear or branched alkanediyl. 21. The composition of claim 20 wherein n is 1.
