Peptides and peptide analogs that selectively inhibit angiotensin II are described. Additionally, a method for making and using the peptides and peptide analogs are also described.

What is claimed is: 1. A selective inhibitor of angiotensin II consisting essentially of amino acids having the sequence MAGFLSE (SEQ ID NO: 2). 2. The selective inhibitor of angiotensin II of claim 1 , wherein glycine is replaced with sarcosine. 3. A method of treating hypertension in a subject comprising administering a composition comprising the selective inhibitor of angiotensin II of claim 1 to the subject.
