A power-injectable access port suitable for injecting contrast media therethrough at a rate of at least 1 milliliter per second. The access port includes a housing, a septum, a reservoir, and an outlet stem in fluid communication with the reservoir. The power-injectable access port is structured for accommodating a pressure developed within the reservoir of at least 35 psi. The septum may include a radiopaque material forming a selected pattern when an x-ray is taken through the septum. The pattern may identify the access port as capable of accommodating injection of contrast media at a rate of at least 1 milliliter per second and/or as capable of accommodating a pressure developed within the reservoir of at least 35 psi. The pattern may identify the location of the septum following implantation of the power-injectable access port.

What is claimed is: 1. A power-injectable access port, comprising: a housing structured for accommodating forces attendant to power injection such that the power-injectable access port is suitable for power injection; a septum including a radiopaque material forming a selected pattern when an x-ray is taken through the septum, the selected pattern indicating that the housing of the power-injectable access port is suitable for accommodating forces attendant to power injection; a reservoir; and an outlet stem in fluid communication with the reservoir. 2. The power-injectable access port according to claim 1 , wherein the selected pattern identifies a location of the septum following implantation of the power-injectable access port. 3. The power-injectable access port according to claim 1 , wherein the selected pattern includes an alphanumeric character. 4. The power-injectable access port according to claim 1 , wherein the selected pattern identifies the power-injectable access port as capable of accommodating injection of contrast media at a rate of between 1 milliliter per second and 5 milliliters per second. 5. The power-injectable access port according to claim 4 , wherein the selected pattern further identifies the power-injectable access port as capable of accommodating a pressure developed within the reservoir of up to 180 psi. 6. The power-injectable access port according to claim 1 , wherein the septum further comprises at least one structural reinforcement for limiting deformation of the septum in response to a pressure developed within the reservoir. 7. The power-injectable access port according to claim 6 , wherein the at least one structural reinforcement comprises one or more extension legs of the septum. 8. The power-injectable access port according to claim 6 , wherein the at least one structural reinforcement extends from an upper surface of the septum. 9. The power-injectable access port according to claim 6 , wherein the at least one structural reinforcement includes at least one barb positioned at least partially within the septum. 10. The power-injectable access port according to claim 6 , wherein the at least one structural reinforcement extends laterally through at least a portion of the septum. 11. The power-injectable access port according to claim 6 , wherein the at least one structural reinforcement abuts or is proximate to at least a portion of an upper surface of the septum. 12. The power-injectable access port according to claim 6 , wherein the at least one structural reinforcement forms a geometric figure. 13. The power-injectable access port according to claim 12 , wherein the geometric figure is embedded within the septum. 14. The power-injectable access port according to claim 1 , wherein the septum comprises a structural frame and a pliant material. 15. The power-injectable access port according to claim 14 , wherein the structural frame comprises a material with a shore A hardness of 80 or more, and the pliant material comprises a shore A harness of 50 or less. 16. The power-injectable access port according to claim 14 , wherein the structural frame comprises a plurality of apertures. 17. A power-injectable access port, comprising: a septum designed to be repeatedly punctured with a suitable access mechanism, the septum including at least one identification attribute comprising a radiographic marker designed to indicate that a housing of the power-injectable access port is suitable for accommodating a particular fluid flow rate and forces attendant to power injection; and the housing defining an aperture for capturing the septum, the housing and septum defining a reservoir, the housing structured for accommodating flow rates attendant to power injection such that the power-injectable access port is suitable for accommodating the particular fluid flow rate; and an outlet stem in fluid communication with the reservoir. 18. The power-injectable access port according to claim 17 , wherein the septum comprises silicone that seals, under suitable compression, passages formed by puncturing the septum, and wherein the septum is at least partially compressed to facilitate closure of passages formed by puncturing the septum with the access mechanism. 19. The power-injectable access port according to claim 17 , wherein at least a portion of a peripheral region of the septum is coupled or affixed to the housing. 20. The power-injectable access port according to claim 17 , wherein the radiographic marker indicates that the power-injectable access port is designed for accommodating a particular pressure. 21. The power-injectable access port according to claim 17 , wherein the radiographic marker includes an alphanumeric character. 22. The power-injectable access port according to claim 17 , wherein the housing comprises titanium. 23. The power-injectable access port according to claim 17 , further comprising a cap and a base together defining the housing. 24. The power-injectable access port according to claim 23 , wherein the septum is captured between the cap and the base.
