Systems and methods are presented for presenting advertisements to users of a fantasy sports contest application. Advertisements are displayed in conjunction with fantasy sports contest information and may be interactive in nature. The advertisements may be selected according to a user profile. The user profile may include information on the user's demonstrated interests, which may be determined using the user's preferences in the fantasy contest, prior television viewing habits, and other suitable information.

What is claimed is: 1. A method for providing advertisements on a display screen to a user using a fantasy sports contest application, the method comprising: storing a user profile associated with the user in a user profile database, the user profile comprising a roster of a fantasy sports team; searching the user profile associated with the user stored on the user profile database for information describing the roster of the fantasy sports team; determining a real-life team to associate with each player on the roster using information stored on a fantasy sports contest database; determining the number of players on the roster that are associated with each real-life team associated with a player to identify a real-life team that is associated with the highest number of players on the roster; retrieving, from an advertising database, an advertisement associated with the identified real-life team; and generating for display the advertisement associated with the identified real-life team on the display screen. 2. The method of claim 1 wherein generating the advertisement associated with the identified real-life team for display comprises generating an interactive advertisement for display. 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the advertisement associated with the identified real-life team comprises advertisements for the identified real-life team's televised contests or the identified real-life team's merchandise. 4. The method of claim 1 further comprising generating for display, simultaneously with fantasy sports contest information and the advertisement, the roster of the fantasy sports team. 5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising generating the advertisement for display as a background image for a listing of the roster of the fantasy sports team or as a background image for a current fantasy sports contest results summary. 6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving user instructions to make a change in roster choices. 7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: monitoring interactions of the user with the fantasy sports contest application; storing data describing the interactions of the user in the user profile associated with the user in the user profile database; retrieving data describing the user interactions from the user profile database; identifying a second real-life team based on the user's interest in the second particular real-life team reflected in data describing the user interactions; and retrieving, from the advertising database, a second advertisement associated with the second identified real-life team. 8. A non-transitory computer readable medium encoded with machine-readable instructions for providing advertisements on a display screen to a user of a fantasy sports contest application, the machine-readable instructions comprising: storing a user profile associated with the user in a user profile database, the user profile comprising a roster of a fantasy sports team; searching the user profile associated with the user stored on the user profile database for information describing the roster of the fantasy sports team; determining a real-life team to associate with each player on the roster using information stored on a fantasy sports contest database; determining the number of players on the roster that are associated with each real-life team associated with a player to identify a real-life team that is associated with the highest number of players on the roster; retrieving, from an advertising database, an advertisement associated with the identified real-life team; and generating for display the advertisement associated with the identified real-life team on the display screen. 9. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 wherein the machine-readable instructions for generating the advertisement associated with the identified real-life team for display comprises machine-readable instructions for generating an interactive advertisement for display. 10. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 wherein the machine-readable instructions for generating for display the advertisement associated with the identified real-life team comprises machine-readable instructions for generating for display advertisements for the identified real-life team's televised contests or the identified real-life team's merchandise. 11. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 wherein the machine-readable instructions further comprises generating for display, simultaneously with fantasy sports contest information and the advertisement, the roster of the fantasy sports team. 12. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 wherein the machine-readable instructions for generating the advertisement for display further comprises machine-readable instructions for generating the advertisement for display as a background image for a listing of the roster of the fantasy sports team or as a background image for a current fantasy sports contest results summary. 13. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 wherein the machine-readable instructions further comprises retrieving user instructions to make a change in roster choices. 14. A system for generating advertisements for display on a display device using a fantasy sports contest application, the system comprising: a user output device comprising the display device; and processing circuitry configured to: store a user profile associated with the user in a user profile database, the user profile comprising a roster of a fantasy sports team; search the user profile associated with the user stored on the user profile database for information describing the roster of the fantasy sports team; determine a real-life team to associate with each player on the roster using information stored on a fantasy sports contest database; determining the number of players on the roster that are associated with each real-life team associated with a player to identify a real-life team that is associated with the highest number of players on the roster; retrieve, from an advertising database, an advertisement associated with the identified real-life team; and generate for display the advertisement associated with the identified real-life team on the display device. 15. The system of claim 14 wherein the processing circuitry configured to generate the advertisement associated with the identified real-life team for display comprises processing circuitry configured to generate an interactive advertisement for display. 16. The system of claim 14 wherein the processing circuitry configured to generate the advertisement associated with the identified real-life team for display comprises processing circuitry configured to generate advertisements for the identified real-life team's televised contests or the identified real-life team's merchandise. 17. The system of claim 14 wherein the processing circuitry configured to generate the advertisement associated with the favorite real-life team for display further comprises processing circuitry configured to generate for display, simultaneously with fantasy sports contest information and the advertisement, the roster of the fantasy sports team. 18. The system of claim 14 wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to generate the advertisement for display as a background image for a listing of the roster of the fantasy sports team or as a background image for a current fantasy sports contest results summary. 19.
