A plastic container that is fabricated from an extrudable polyethylene terephthalate (PET) using an extrusion blow molding process includes a neck portion, a bottom portion and a main body portion. The main body portion has a central opening that extends completely through the main body portion and may have generally toroidal area surrounding the central opening. The bottom portion includes a plurality of support feet and a substantially smooth central raised portion that has substantially no discontinuities such as the gate well that is commonly found on PET containers fabricated using the conventional stretch blow molding process. The neck portion may be offset from a longitudinal axis of the container so as to facilitate pouring by a consumer.

What is claimed is: 1. A plastic container, comprising: a neck portion; a bottom portion; and a main body portion that is unitary with said neck portion and said bottom portion, said main body portion including a liquid holding toroidal portion in front view forming at least part of a handle shaped and sized to facilitate griping, the toroidal portion defining a central opening extending completely through the container and substantially surrounded by the toroidal portion, the toroidal portion having a first maximum width at the handle and a second maximum width opposite the handle, the second maximum width being greater than the first maximum width, wherein said container is fabricated from a material comprising polyethylene terephthalate (PET). 2. A plastic container according to claim 1 , wherein said plastic container is fabricated using an extrusion blow molding process. 3. A plastic container according to claim 1 , wherein said bottom portion contains no gate well. 4. A plastic container according to claim 1 , wherein said bottom portion comprises a plurality of feet, said feet being adapted to support said plastic container on an underlying flat horizontal surface. 5. A plastic container according to claim 4 , wherein said bottom portion further comprises a substantially smooth central raised portion. 6. A plastic container according to claim 1 , wherein said main body portion has a central longitudinal axis, and wherein said neck portion is offset from said central longitudinal axis. 7. A plastic container, comprising: a neck portion; a bottom portion opposite the neck portion, said bottom portion comprising a plurality of feet that are adapted to support said plastic container on an underlying flat horizontal surface and a substantially smooth central raised portion; and a main body portion that is disposed between and unitary with said neck portion and said bottom portion, said main portion including a liquid holding toroidal portion in front view forming at least part of a handle shaped and sized to facilitate gripping, the toroidal portion defining a central opening extending completely through the container and substantially surrounded by the toroidal portion, the toroidal portion having a first maximum width at the handle and a second maximum width opposite the handle, the second maximum width being greater than the first maximum width, wherein said container is fabricated from a material comprising polyethylene terephthalate (PET) using an extrusion blow molding process. 8. A plastic container according to claim 7 , wherein said substantially smooth central raised portion of said bottom portion contains no gate well.
