Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A component useable with one or more tube has a body engageable with one or more external surface recesses of the one or more tubes. The component has a pair of jaws extending from the body for gripping an item. The component is configured, such that, in use, in a first orientation of the body relative to the respective tube(s) recesses, the component is movable along a length of the tube(s); and, in a second orientation of the body relative to the respective tube(s) recesses, the component is resistive to movement along a length of the tube(s).

The invention claimed is: 1. A component for use with a tube, the component comprising: a body comprising an inner surface, the inner surface comprising at least one first projection and at least one second projection, the at least one first projection and at least one second projection configured to engage one or more external surface recesses of the tube, the inner surface of the body defining at least a portion of a central passageway configured to receive the tube, the body also comprising an outer surface, at least a portion of the outer surface having a first enlarged portion and a second enlarged portion positioned away from a first end of the body and a second end of the body, the first enlarged portion and the second enlarged portion of the outer surface being positioned on opposing sides of the body, and a pair of jaws extending outwardly away from the body, the pair of jaws being configured to clamp onto an item separate from the tube when positioned in a closed operational position, the pair of jaws comprising a first jaw and a second jaw, the first jaw having a first clamping surface and the second jaw having a second clamping surface, wherein the first and second jaws are hingedly biased toward each other in reaching the closed operational position such that the first and second clamping surfaces abut each other when the pair of jaws is positioned in the closed operational position, each of the first enlarged portion and the second enlarged portion comprising a shoulder portion, each of the shoulder portions being associated with one of the pair of jaws and providing a surface for actuation, by a user, of the pair of jaws to an open position, wherein the shoulder portions are deflectable towards each other such that deflection of the shoulder portions moves the pair of jaws from the closed operational position away from each other to or toward the open position, and release of the deflection of the shoulder portions allows the pair of jaws to move back to the closed operational position, wherein in use, in a first coaxial orientation of the body relative to the tube, the at least one first projection is configured to engage a corresponding first recess of the tube and the at least one second projection is configured to engage the first recess or another recess of the tube located near the first recess such that the component is movable along a length of the tube, and in a second not-coaxial orientation of the body relative to the tube, the component is resistive to movement along the length of the tube. 2. The component as claimed in claim 1 , wherein in the first orientation the component is in a plane such that the body is substantially co-axial with the tube, and in the second orientation the component is in a plane such that the body is substantially non co-axial with the tube. 3. The component as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the pair of jaws are co-acting upon each other in the closed operational position. 4. The component as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the pair of jaws are openable and grippable of an item for locating of the tube engaged by the component in a set position. 5. The component as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the component is positioned on the tube, such that, when the component is in the second orientation, and the pair of jaws are gripping an item, the component acts to locate the tube in a set position. 6. The component as claimed in claim 1 , wherein one or each jaw of the pair of jaws comprises grips for gripping of the item. 7. The component as claimed in claim 6 , wherein the grips are one or a series of ridges, projections or teeth, such grips being interlockable or interposing with one or more corresponding grips of an opposing jaw of the pair of jaws. 8. The component as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the inner surface of the body is configured to be simultaneously engageable with two or more tubes. 9. The component as claimed in claim 1 , wherein in the second orientation, the at least one first and at least one second projections are engaged with a recesses of the tube separated from one another by a distance along the length of the tube. 10. The component as claimed in claim 1 , wherein in the second orientation, the at least one first and at least one second projections act on the tube, or its recesses or a part thereof, to restrain the component from being moved between recesses or along a length of the tube. 11. The component as claimed in claim 1 , wherein there are two first projections, and a single second projection. 12. The component as claimed in claim 11 , wherein in the first orientation, the two first projections are engageable with a corresponding first recess of the tube, and the single second projection is engageable with the same or another recess of the tube located near the first recess in which the at least one first projection is engageable. 13. The component as claimed in claim 11 , wherein in the second orientation, the two first projections are engageable with a corresponding first recess of the tube, and the single second projection is engageable with a recess of the tube separated from the first recesses by a distance along the length of the tube. 14. The component as claimed in claim 1 , the first and second clamping surfaces being parallel with each other in the closed operational position. 15. The component as claimed in claim 14 , wherein the outer surface of the body comprises non-cylindrical portions, the non-cylindrical portions of the outer surface of the body being parallel with the first and second clamping surfaces of the first and second jaws. 16. The component as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the first and second enlarged portions are wider than a remainder of the body along a direction parallel to an axis extending through the central passageway.
