Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A system for interactive gaming among a plurality of players includes a host computer system and a plurality of player terminals communicably coupled to the host computer system or gaming platform via a network. The plurality of player terminals may be located at a plurality of licensed gaming locations. The plurality of player terminals may be configured to engage the plurality of players in a common interactive game operated by the host computer system. The plurality of player terminals can include means for dispensing player winnings from the player terminal.

What is claimed is: 1. An interactive gaming system comprising: a gaming platform running on one or more servers, the gaming platform hosting at least one interactive game; a player terminal communicably coupled to the gaming platform via a network, wherein the player terminal includes: one or more processors; a communications interface to connect the player terminal to the gaming platform via the network; a first display to depict gaming action from the at least one interactive game; a payment interaction display area to allow a player to purchase credits to be added to a credit total that can be used to place bets; a player interaction display area to receive inputs from the player during a course of the at least one interactive game to control game play; a betting display interface to receive a bet having a betting value that is then deducted from the credit total; a state recordation module, under control of the one or more processors, to create a recording of the gaming action during the at least one interactive game sufficient to reproduce the game play; and wherein the gaming platform or player terminal distributes winnings from the at least one interactive game by adding the winnings to the credit total and before the credit total is translated to monetary value, the recording of the at least one interactive game is automatically analyzed to detect collusion. 2. The interactive gaming system of claim 1 , wherein the gaming platform includes: a graphics module to control graphics displayed on the first display of the player terminal; a game storage arrangement to house software or computer-executable code that controls the at least one interactive game offered by the gaming platform; a game processor to control the at least one interactive game using the software or computer-executable code from the game storage arrangement; a tournament processor to control player tournaments; a loyalty tracker to track game play of any player that has registered and to thereby reward those players for an amount of time spent playing; and an accounting processor to control flow of value within the network. 3. The interactive gaming system of claim 1 , wherein the gaming platform includes an internal network, a web server and a game server. 4. The interactive gaming system of claim 1 , wherein the communications interface: receives, from the gaming platform, a list of multiple interactive games which are presented on the first display and the player interaction display area allows a player to select two or more games from the list of multiple interactive games being presented on the first display, wherein, upon processing the selection of the two or more games, the communication interface transmits a selection signal from the player terminal to the gaming platform identifying the selection and requesting selection of the two or more games be initiated. 5. The interactive gaming system of claim 1 , wherein the recording of the at least one interactive game includes snapshots of the at least one interactive game based on game states that include a wager, payout levels, or skill level settings. 6. The interactive gaming system of claim 5 , wherein the snapshots of the at least one interactive game are recorded at a variable rate depending on game dynamics. 7. The interactive gaming system of claim 5 , wherein the snapshots of the at least one interactive game include gaming parameters, a gaming session identifier, date and time the at least one interactive game is opened or terminated, date and time the at least one interactive game is logged in to or is logged out of by the player terminal, or a physical location of the player terminal. 8. The interactive gaming system of claim 7 , wherein the gaming parameters include ammo amounts, number of lives, or level reached during game play. 9. The interactive gaming system of claim 1 , further comprising an electronic collusion measure configured to detect gambling rule violations by, at least in part, using a location of the player terminal and evaluate one or more rules in view of the location to determine whether the player terminal can participate in the at least one interactive game. 10. The interactive gaming system of claim 1 , wherein the state recordation module is configured to: initiate the recording of the one or more interactive games when the bet is above a first threshold; and wherein the recording of the one or more interactive games includes capturing snapshots of game play at a rate that is dependent on the bet received via the betting display interface. 11. The interactive gaming system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more interactive games include a card game and wherein the first display depicts a virtual table and wherein one of the inputs received via the player interaction display area includes a request from the player to rotate a perspective of the virtual table so that the player is depicted at the virtual table in a desired location that obstructs a view of a potential cheater located near the player terminal. 12. The interactive gaming system of claim 1 , wherein the gaming platform includes: a game processor to control the one or more interactive games using computer-executable code retrieved from a game storage arrangement; and a collusion detection processor to review unusual activity taken by the player, wherein the unusual activity taken by the player includes frequent occurrences of two or more players playing together. 13. The interactive gaming system of claim 1 , wherein the gaming platform is located at a first location that is different a second location of the player terminal. 14. A player terminal comprising: means for connecting the player terminal to a host computer system to allow a player to participate in one or more interactive games; means for depicting gaming action from the one or more interactive games; means for allowing the player to purchase credits to be added to a credit total that can be used by the player to place bets during the one or more interactive games; means for receiving inputs from the player during a course of the one or more interactive games to control game play; means for receiving a bet having a betting value that is then deducted from the credit total; means for recording at least a portion of the one or more interactive games with enough detail to reconstruct betting and gaming action; means for analyzing the recording of the one or more interactive games; and means for determining, based on an analysis of the recording, whether to translate the credit total into monetary value. 15. The player terminal of claim 14 , wherein the one or more interactive games include head to head play between multiple players. 16. The player terminal of claim 15 , further comprising: means for transmitting a signal to the host computer system to initiate the one or more interactive games; means for evaluating the multiple players participating in the one or more interactive games to determine a frequency of common play between two or more of the multiple players; means for barring, upon detection of collusion, colluding players from the one or more interactive games; and means for holding the credit total of the colluding players until resolution. 17. The player terminal of claim 14 , further comprising means for determining a location of the player terminal. 18. The player terminal of claim 17 , further comprising: means for detecting gambling rule violations by, at least in part, using the location of the player terminal;
