The present invention relates to composition for preventing or treating cachexia, and more specifically, to a composition for preventing or treating cachexia containing a peptide derived from a telomerase. The composition for preventing or treating cachexia, according to present invention, has the advantages of improving symptoms of cachexia, such as weight loss, anemia, edema, and loss of appetite, and has few side effects.

What is claimed is: 1. A method for treating cachexia caused by rheumatoid arthritis comprising administering to a subject in need thereof the isolated peptide of SEQ ID NO: 1. 2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the peptide is administered in a single dose at a concentration of 0.001 to 1 ng/kg. 3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the peptide is administered in a single dose at a concentration of 0.01 to 0.4 ng/kg. 4. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the peptide is administered 1 to 3 times a day. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the peptide is administered at a daily dose of 0.001 to 1 ng/kg. 6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the peptide is administered 1 to 3 times daily. 7. A method for treating cachexia caused by rheumatoid arthritis comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a composition comprising the isolated peptide of SEQ ID NO: 1. 8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the composition is administered through oral, rectal, transdermal, intravenous, intramuscular, intraperitoneal, intramedullary, epidural, or subcutaneous routes. 9. The method of claim 7 , wherein the composition comprises 0.1 μg/mg to 1 mg/mg of isolated peptide. 10. The method of claim 7 , wherein the peptide is administered in a single dose at a concentration of 0.001 to 1 ng/kg. 11. The method of claim 7 , wherein the peptide is administered in a single dose at a concentration of 0.01 to 0.4 ng/kg. 12. The method of claim 7 , wherein the peptide is administered 1 to 3 times a day. 13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the peptide is administered at a daily dose of 0.001 to 1 ng/kg. 14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the peptide is administered 1 to 3 times daily. 15. The method of claim 7 , wherein the composition is a pharmaceutical composition. 16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the composition is formulated for injection.
