Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A paging frame may be determined based on a first value divided by a second value and a WTRU identifier modulo the second value. The second value may be based on a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle value.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising: at least one processor configured to determine a paging frame to monitor based on a first value divided by a second value and based on a WTRU identifier modulo the second value, wherein the second value is based on a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle value; a receiver configured to monitor the determined paging frame for paging information, wherein the receiver is configured to not monitor frames between paging frames; and wherein the WTRU identifier is related to an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) value of the WTRU. 2. The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the DRX cycle value is a shortest DRX cycle value. 3. The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the first value is the IMSI of the WTRU. 4. The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the WTRU identifier is equal to the IMSI. 5. The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the second value is equal to the DRX cycle value of the WTRU. 6. The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the determined paging frame is referenced to a system frame number. 7. The WTRU of claim 1 further comprising: the at least one processor is further configured to determine paging occasions based on the determined paging frame. 8. The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the WTRU is in an idle mode. 9. A network device comprising: at least one processor configured to determine a paging frame based on a first value divided by a second value and based on a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) identifier modulo the second value, wherein the second value is based on a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle value; a transmitter configured to transmit, to the WTRU, paging information based on the determined paging frame and to not transmit paging information to the WTRU in frames between paging frames of the WTRU; and wherein the WTRU identifier is related to an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) value of the WTRU. 10. The network device of claim 9 , wherein the DRX cycle value is a shortest DRX cycle value. 11. The network device of claim 9 , wherein the first value is the IMSI of the WTRU. 12. The network device of claim 9 , wherein the WTRU identifier is equal to the IMSI. 13. The network device of claim 9 , wherein the second value is equal to the DRX cycle value of the WTRU. 14. The network device of claim 9 , wherein the determined paging frame is referenced to a system frame number. 15. The network device of claim 9 further comprising: the at least one processor is further configured to determine paging occasions based on the determined paging frame. 16. The network device of claim 9 , wherein the WTRU is in an idle mode. 17. A method performed by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising: determining, by the WTRU, a paging frame to monitor based on a first value divided by a second value and based on a WTRU identifier modulo the second value, wherein the second value is based on a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle value; monitoring, by the WTRU, the determined paging frame for paging information, wherein the WTRU does not monitor frames between paging frames; and wherein the WTRU identifier is related to an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) value of the WTRU. 18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the DRX cycle value is a shortest DRX cycle value. 19. The method of claim 17 , wherein the first value is the IMSI of the WTRU. 20. The method of claim 17 , wherein the WTRU identifier is equal to the IMSI. 21. The method of claim 17 , wherein the second value is equal to the DRX cycle value of the WTRU. 22. The method of claim 17 , wherein the determined paging frame is referenced to a system frame number. 23. The method of claim 17 further comprising: determining, by the WTRU, paging occasions based on the determined paging frame. 24. The method of claim 17 , wherein the WTRU is in an idle mode. 25. A method performed by a network device, the method comprising: determining, by the network device, a paging frame based on a first value divided by a second value and based on a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) identifier modulo the second value, wherein the second value is based on a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle value; transmitting, by the network device to the WTRU, paging information based on the determined paging frame and not transmitting paging information to the WTRU in frames between paging frames of the WTRU; and wherein the WTRU identifier is related to an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) value of the WTRU. 26. The method of claim 25 , wherein the DRX cycle value is a shortest DRX cycle value. 27. The method of claim 25 , wherein the first value is the IMSI of the WTRU. 28. The method of claim 25 , wherein the WTRU identifier is equal to the IMSI. 29. The method of claim 25 , wherein the second value is equal to the DRX cycle value of the WTRU. 30. The method of claim 25 , wherein the determined paging frame is referenced to a system frame number. 31. The method of claim 25 further comprising: determining, by the network device, paging occasions based on the determined paging frame. 32. The method of claim 25 , wherein the WTRU is in an idle mode.
