The invention claimed is: 1. A method for use in processing a transaction, the method comprising: obtaining data from a portable electronic device by optically scanning a decodable optical indicia displayed on a display of the portable electronic device, the data comprising information obtained using the portable electronic device regarding the transaction, and information obtained using the portable electronic device regarding at least one of a physical location of the portable electronic device when obtaining the information regarding the transaction and a time of the day when obtaining the information regarding the transaction; processing the transaction based on the data regarding the information regarding the transaction and the at least one of the information regarding the physical location of the portable electronic device when obtaining the information regarding the transaction and the time of the day when obtaining the information regarding the transaction. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the providing the data comprises displaying a decodable optical indicia on a display of the portable electronic device in which the decodable optical indicia comprises a first portion associated with the information regarding the transaction, and a second portion regarding information regarding the physical location of the portable electronic device when obtaining the information regarding the transaction. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the obtaining the information regarding the at least one of the physical location of the portable electronic device and the time of the day comprises obtaining signals from an external positioning system. 4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the external positioning system comprises at least one of a global positioning system, a cellular network, and a wireless local area network. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the providing the data comprises providing the data regarding the time of the day when obtaining the information regarding the transaction, and providing data regarding the physical location of the portable electronic device when obtaining the information regarding the transaction. 6. The method of claim 1 , comprising interrogating an RFID tag associated with the transaction. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein: the transaction comprises a point-of-sale transaction, the obtaining information regarding the transaction comprises obtaining information regarding payment for purchase of a product using the portable electronic device; and the providing the data comprises providing the data, at checkout using the portable electronic device, regarding the information regarding payment and at least one of the information regarding the physical location of the portable electronic device and the time of the day. 8. The method of claim 1 , wherein: the transaction comprises a point-of-sale transaction, the obtaining information regarding the transaction comprises obtaining a coupon using the portable electronic device; the obtaining information regarding at least one of the physical location of the portable electronic device and a current time of the day comprises at least one of obtaining information regarding the physical location of the portable electronic device when obtaining the coupon, and a time of the day when obtaining the coupon; and the providing the data comprises providing the data, at checkout using the portable electronic device, regarding the information regarding the coupon and at least one of the information regarding the physical location of the portable electronic device when generating the coupon and the time of the day when generating the coupon. 9. The method of claim 1 , wherein: the transaction comprises monitoring a checkpoint; the obtaining information regarding the transaction comprises obtaining information regarding the checkpoint using the portable electronic device; the obtaining information regarding at least one of the physical location of the portable electronic device and a time of the day comprises at least one of obtaining information regarding the physical location of the portable electronic device at the checkpoint, and a time of the day at the checkpoint; and the providing the data comprises providing the data, at a physical location remote from the checkpoint using the portable electronic device, regarding the information regarding the checkpoint and at least one of the information regarding the physical location of the portable electronic device at the checkpoint and the information regarding the time of the day at the checkpoint. 10. A portable electronic device for use in processing a transaction, comprising: the portable electronic device operable to: obtain information regarding the transaction; obtain information regarding at least one of a physical location of the portable electronic device when obtaining the information regarding the transaction, and a time of the day when obtaining the information regarding the transaction; provide data regarding the information regarding the transaction and the at least one of the information regarding the physical location of the portable electronic device when obtaining the information regarding the transaction and the time of the day when obtaining the information regarding the transaction, for use in processing the transaction; and display the data as a decodable optical indicia on a display of the portable electronic device. 11. The portable electronic device of claim 10 , wherein providing data is operable to display the data as a decodable optical indicia on a display of the portable electronic device. 12. The portable electronic device of claim 10 , wherein the decodable optical indicia comprises a first portion associated with the information regarding the transaction, and at least one of a second portion associated with information regarding the physical location of the portable electronic device when obtaining the information regarding the transaction, and a third portion associated with information regarding the time of the day when obtaining the information regarding the transaction. 13. The portable electronic device of claim 10 , wherein obtaining information relating to the physical location of the portable electronic device when obtaining the information regarding the transaction comprises a receiver for obtaining signals from an external positioning system.
