Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Pulling eyes are provided with integrated wiring systems suitable for installing conductors or cables. The pulling eyes may include body portions that define interior cavities that are sized to snugly engage outside portions of the conductors or cables. The body portions are sized to be deformably crimped onto the outside portions of the conductors or cables. The pulling eyes may also include head portions joined to the body portions, with the head portions defining apertures for receiving a strength member for installing the conductors or cables. These apertures place the interior cavities in communication with the exteriors of the pulling eyes.

What is claimed is: 1. A computer-readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a server system comprising a processor, cause the server system to perform operations comprising: receiving one or more parameters related to a cable pull to be performed at a job site, wherein the one or more parameters comprise a first parameter indicating at least a first type of conductor to be pulled during the cable pull at the job site and a second parameter indicating a pulling eye to be installed on the first type of conductor to be pulled during the cable pull at the job site; and provisioning, based at least in part on the one or more parameters, for construction of an integrated system to be delivered to the job site for performance of the cable pull, wherein the integrated system constructed for delivery to the job site based at least in part on the one or more parameters received by the server system comprises a reel loaded with the first type of conductor including the pulling eye installed on a terminal end of the first type of conductor. 2. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the one or more parameters further comprise at least one of a third parameter indicating a length of the cable pull, a fourth parameter indicating a size of a conduit through which the first type of conductor will be pulled at the job site, a fifth parameter indicating a configuration of the conduit, a sixth parameter indicating a number of conductors to be pulled at the job site, a seventh parameter indicating a size of each of the conductors to be pulled during the cable pull at the job site, or an eighth parameter indicating a color of insulation for each of the conductors to be pulled during the cable pull at the job site. 3. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the first parameter further indicates a second type of conductor to be pulled during the cable pull at the job site, and wherein the integrated system constructed for delivery to the job site based at least in part on the one or more parameters further comprises the second type of conductor loaded onto the reel, wherein the first type of conductor and the second type of conductor are loaded in parallel onto the reel for delivery to the job site. 4. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the integrated system constructed for delivery to the job site based at least in part on the one or more parameters further comprises a payoff system containing the reel and providing for movement and positioning of the reel and payoff of the first type of conductor from the reel during the cable pull. 5. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the first parameter further indicates a second type of conductor to be pulled during the cable pull at the job site, and wherein the integrated system constructed for delivery to the job site based at least in part on the one or more parameters further comprises the second type of conductor loaded onto the reel, wherein the first type of conductor is loaded onto the reel in a first layer and the second type of conductor is loaded onto the reel in a second layer over at least a portion the first layer of the first type of conductor. 6. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the pulling eye installed on the terminal end of the first type of conductor is deformably crimped onto the terminal end of the first type of conductor, and wherein a pulling member is attached to an end of the pulling eye, the pulling member for attachment to a pulling rope during the cable pull. 7. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 6 , wherein the pulling eye is crimped onto the terminal end of the first type of conductor by a plurality of crimps, each of the plurality of crimps applied at a separate location adjacent to a previous crimp and at least two of the plurality of crimps having a differing rotational alignment relative to one another. 8. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise: utilizing the one or more parameters to calculate pull tensions for the cable pull; and providing, based at least in part on the pull tensions calculated for the cable pull, a recommendation for appropriate pulling equipment to be used during the cable pull at the job site. 9. A system comprising: a processor; and a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising receiving one or more parameters related to a cable pull to be performed at a job site, wherein the one or more parameters comprise a first parameter indicating at least a first type of conductor to be pulled during the cable pull at the job site and a second parameter indicating a pulling eye to be installed on the first type of conductor to be pulled during the cable pull at the job site, and provisioning, based at least in part on the one or more parameters, for construction of an integrated system to be delivered to the job site for performance of the cable pull, wherein the integrated system constructed for delivery to the job site based at least in part on the one or more parameters received by the system comprises a reel loaded with the first type of conductor including the pulling eye installed on a terminal end of the first type of conductor. 10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the one or more parameters further comprise at least one of a third parameter indicating a length of the cable pull, a fourth parameter indicating a size of a conduit through which the first type of conductor will be pulled at the job site, a fifth parameter indicating a configuration of the conduit, a sixth parameter indicating a number of conductors to be pulled during the cable pull at the job site, a seventh parameter indicating size of each of the conductors to be pulled during the cable pull at the job site, or an eighth parameter indicating a color of insulation for each of the conductors to be pulled at the job site. 11. The system of claim 9 , wherein the first parameter further indicates a second type of conductor to be pulled during the cable pull at the job site, and wherein the integrated system constructed for delivery to the job site based at least in part on the one or more parameters further comprises the second type of conductor loaded onto the reel, wherein the first type of conductor and the second type of conductor are loaded in parallel onto the reel for delivery to the job site. 12. The system claim 9 , wherein the first parameter further indicates a second type of conductor to be pulled during the cable pull at the job site, and wherein the integrated system constructed for delivery to the job site based at least in part on the one or more parameters further comprises the second type of conductor loaded onto the reel, wherein the first type of conductor is loaded onto the reel in a first layer and the second type of conductor is loaded onto the reel in a second layer over at least a portion of the first layer of the first type of conductor. 13.
