Official abstract text for this publication.
According to an aspect, a display device includes a display unit, a detecting unit, and a control unit. The display unit displays a publication. The detecting unit detects a plurality of objects that perform an operation of turning one or more pages of the publication. The control unit for determines a range of pages to be turned, based on a distance between the objects.

What is claimed is: 1. A display device, comprising: a display having a display surface and configured to display an electronic publication; a detector configured to detect positions of first and second fingers performing an operation of turning a range of one or more pages of the electronic publication while both of the first and second fingers are not in contact with the display surface; and a controller configured to determine a range of pages to be turned, based on a distance between the detected positions of the first and second fingers, wherein the range of pages to be turned is defined as pages pinched by the first and second fingers, after having defined the ranged of pages to be turned, the controller is configured to when (i) the distance between the detected positions of the first and second fingers is kept substantially constant, and (ii) the first and second fingers move with the range of pages to be turned while keeping pinching all pages in the range of pages to be turned, change an appearance of the range of pages to be turned as if the range of pages to be turned is lifted up in response to the movement of the first and second fingers, the controller is configured to cause the display to display the range of the pages to be turned, in accordance with a variation in the distance between the detected positions of the first and second fingers, and contents of a bottommost page in the range of pages pinched by the first and second fingers, on an opened uppermost page of said range of the pages to represent the range of the pages to be turned, said opened uppermost page being opposite to the bottommost page, the displayed contents include a page number of the bottommost page, and while the appearance of the range of pages to be turned is changed as if the range of pages to be turned is lifted up, the controller is configured to (a) in response to a first detection by the detector that a distance between the first and second fingers is reduced to exclude a first range of pages from the range of pages to be turned, reduce a number of pages in the range of the pages to be turned in accordance with the reduced distance, and change an appearance of the first range of pages as if the first range of pages is changed according to the gravity, (b) in response to a second detection by the detector that the distance between the first and second fingers is increased to include a second range of the pages between the first and second fingers, add the second range of pages to the range of pages to be turned, and (c) in response to a third detection by the detector that the distance between the first and second fingers is increased to beyond a predetermined value and the range of pages is not located between the first and second fingers, change an appearance of the range of pages as if the range of pages is changed according to the gravity. 2. A display device, comprising: a display having a display surface and configured to stereographically display an electronic publication as a three-dimensional object in a three-dimensional space; a detector configured to detect positions of first and second fingers performing an operation of turning one or more pages of the electronic publication stereographically displayed in the three-dimensional space; and a controller configured to determine a range of pages to be turned, to be a range of pages of the electronic publication between the detected positons of the first finger and the second finger, wherein the range of pages to be turned is defined as pages pinched by the first and second fingers, the display is configured to stereographically display the electronic publication above the display surface by using disparity, wherein the stereographically displayed electronic publication is displayed as floating from the display surface at a predetermined amount of floating, after having defined the range of pages to be turned, the controller is configured to when (i) the distance between the detected positions of the first and second fingers is kept substantially constant, and (ii) the first and second fingers move with the range of pages to be turned while keeping pinching all pages in the range of pages to be turned, change an appearance of the range of pages to be turned as if the range of pages to be turned is lifted up in response to the movement of the first and second fingers, the controller is configured to cause the display to display the range of the pages to be turned, in accordance with a variation in the distance between the detected positions of the first and second fingers, and contents of a bottommost page in the range of pages pinched by the first and second fingers, on an opened uppermost page of said range of the pages to represent the range of the pages to be turned, said opened uppermost page being opposite to the bottommost page, and the displayed contents include a page number of the bottommost page, and while the appearance of the range of pages to be turned is changed as if the range of pages to be turned is lifted up, the controller is configured to (a) in response to a first detection by the detector that a distance between the first and second fingers is reduced to exclude a first range of pages from the range of pages to be turned, reduce a number of pages in the range of the pages to be turned in accordance with the reduced distance, and change an appearance of the first range of pages as if the first range of pages is changed according to the gravity, (b) in response to a second detection by the detector that the distance between the first and second fingers is increased to include a second range of the pages between the first and second fingers, add the second range of pages to the range of pages to be turned, and (c) in response to a third detection by the detector that the distance between the first and second fingers is increased to beyond a predetermined value and the range of pages is not located between the first and second fingers, change an appearance of the range of pages as if the range of pages is changed according to the gravity. 3. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to cause the pages in the determined range to be turned when the first and second fingers go across a bound portion of pages with the pages pinched. 4. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to cause the pages in the determined range to be turned when the first and second fingers move at a speed higher than a threshold value with the pages pinched. 5. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to set a mark on a page of the electronic publication when the detector detects a predetermined operation performed by the first and second fingers. 6. The display device according to claim 5 , wherein the controller is configured to adjust the range of the pages to be turned so that the page with the mark can be easily viewed. 7. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to cut a page off from the electronic publication when the detector detects a predetermined operation performed for the page by the first and second fingers. 8. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to cause the display to display, when the pages in the determined range being turned over, the electronic publication including the pages in an enlarged scale. 9. A control system, comprising: a terminal including a display having a display surface and configured to display an electronic publication, and a detector configured to detect positions of first and second fing
