A container includes a sidewall circumscribing a central longitudinal axis and a rim terminating the sidewall. The rim includes a radially outer surface, a radially inner surface, and a sealing lip extending between the radially outer and inner surfaces. The sealing lip has a radially innermost portion, and an axially outermost portion disposed radially outboard with respect to the radially innermost portion. A package includes a foil coupled to the sealing lip.

The invention claimed is: 1. A glass container comprising: a base establishing a base plane on which the container is restable and through which extends a container longitudinal axis; a sidewall extending from the base and circumscribing the longitudinal axis; and a rim terminating the sidewall and including radially inner and outer surfaces and a sealing lip extending between the radially inner and outer surfaces and including an intermediate surface extending in a radially and axially inward direction, wherein a radially outermost portion of the intermediate surface of the sealing lip proximate the outer surface and distal the inner surface is further from the base plane than a radially innermost portion of the intermediate surface of the sealing lip proximate the inner surface and distal the outer surface, wherein the sealing lip is disposed at an angle between two and ten degrees with respect to a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. 2. The container set forth in claim 1 wherein the intermediate surface is straight. 3. The container set forth in claim 1 wherein the sealing lip is configured to receive an adhesive layer thereon to affix a foil seal over the sealing lip to seal the container. 4. The container set forth in claim 1 wherein the sidewall includes a body extending from the base, a shoulder extending from the body, a neck extending from the shoulder, and a neck finish establishing the rim. 5. The container set forth in claim 1 wherein the sealing lip is disposed at an angle between three and seven degrees with respect to a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. 6. A package comprising: the container set forth in claim 1 ; and a foil secured to the sealing lip. 7. A package set forth in claim 6 wherein the foil includes a metal outer portion and a polymeric inner portion. 8. A glass container, comprising: a sidewall circumscribing a central longitudinal axis; and a rim terminating the sidewall and including: a radially outer surface, a radially inner surface, and a sealing lip extending between the radially outer and inner surfaces and having a radially innermost portion proximate the radially inner surface and distal the radially outer surface, and an axially outermost portion disposed radially outboard with respect to the radially innermost portion proximate the radially outer surface and distal the radially inner surface, and an intermediate surface that extends in a radially and axially inward direction, wherein the sealing lip is disposed at an angle between two and ten degrees with respect to a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. 9. The container set forth in claim 8 wherein the intermediate surface is straight. 10. The container set forth in claim 8 wherein the sealing lip also has an outer radiused portion extending radially outwardly from the intermediate surface and an inner radiused portion extending radially inwardly from the intermediate surface. 11. The container set forth in claim 8 wherein the radially outer surface is tapered to extend in a radially outward and axially inward direction. 12. The container set forth in claim 8 wherein the sidewall includes a neck of the container, and wherein the rim includes a neck finish of the container. 13. The container set forth in claim 12 wherein the container is a jar. 14. A package comprising: the container set forth in claim 8 ; and a sealing foil coupled to the sealing lip of the container rim. 15. A package set forth in claim 14 wherein the foil includes a metal outer portion and a polymeric inner portion. 16. A glass container comprising: a base establishing a base plane on which the container is restable and through which extends a container longitudinal axis; a sidewall extending from the base and circumscribing the longitudinal axis; and a rim terminating the sidewall and including: a radially inner surface extending at an oblique angle with respect to the axis in a radially inward and axially inward direction, a radially outer surface extending at an oblique angle with respect to the axis in a radially outward and axially inward direction, and a sealing lip extending between the radially inner and outer surfaces and including: a radially innermost portion proximate the radially inner surface and distal the radially outer surface, an axially outermost portion disposed radially outboard with respect to the radially innermost portion proximate the radially outer surface and distal the radially inner surface, and axially further from the base plane than the radially innermost portion, a straight intermediate surface extending in a radially and axially inward direction at an oblique angle between two and ten degrees with respect to a plane normal to the axis, an outer radiused portion extending radially outwardly from the intermediate surface to the radially outer surface of the rim, and an inner radiused portion extending radially inwardly from the intermediate surface to the radially inner surface of the rim. 17. A package comprising: the container set forth in claim 16 ; and a sealing foil coupled to the sealing lip of the container rim. 18. A package set forth in claim 17 wherein the foil includes a metal outer portion and a polymeric inner portion.
