In case a similar component-to-be-loaded is erroneously loaded on a main body side apparatus, contact of terminals are avoided. To this end, a video camera (main body side apparatus) 1 has a main body side terminal 30 , and a battery pack (component-to-be-loaded) 100 has a battery side terminal (component-to-be-loaded side terminal) 120 . In the vicinity of the battery side terminal of the component-to-be-loaded, a discriminating tab 111 is provided, and a blocking portion 19 is provided in the vicinity of the main body side terminal of the video camera (main body side apparatus) for determining whether or not its loading is permitted based on the combination of concave and convex engagement with respect to the above-mentioned discriminating tab, and when the loading is not permitted due to the interference between the blocking portion and the above-mentioned discriminating tab, an electric connection between the main body side terminal and the battery side terminal (component-to-be-loaded side terminal) is not to be established.

The invention claimed is: 1. Apparatus configured to receive a battery comprising; a battery loading portion configured to load the battery having a length, a width and a height, top and bottom surfaces substantially perpendicular to the height direction, and front and rear end portions disposed between said top and bottom surfaces, said battery including: a plurality of electric contact portions; a plurality of terminal windows exposing said electric contact portions; wherein said front end portion includes a first level surface and a second level surface, said second level surface being lower than said first level surface in the length direction; wherein said second level surface is at opposite ends of and sandwiches said terminal windows and said terminal windows are disposed in said second level surface; said apparatus having plural terminals located in the battery loading portion, wherein a plurality of the terminals of the apparatus and the electric terminals of the battery are physically connected with each other when the battery is loaded on the battery loading portion. 2. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the battery loading portion has a length corresponding to the length direction of the battery, a width corresponding to the width direction of the battery, and a height corresponding to the height direction of the battery; the plurality of the terminals of the apparatus are located at an end surface of the battery loading portion in the length direction; and a single set of the terminals of the apparatus is off-center in the width direction. 3. The apparatus according to claim 2 further comprising a lock mechanism located in the length direction opposite to the terminals of the apparatus. 4. The apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein the lock mechanism is located at the middle of the battery loading portion in the width direction. 5. The apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein the lock mechanism has a lock pawl to engage the rear end portion of the battery. 6. The apparatus according to claim 5 , wherein the battery loading portion is surrounded by a frame body. 7. The apparatus according to claim 6 , wherein the frame body has a predetermined height lower than the height of the battery when the battery is loaded on the battery loading portion. 8. The apparatus according to claim 6 , wherein the frame body has an overhang portion configured to lock the battery in the height direction when the battery is loaded on the battery loading portion. 9. The apparatus according to claim 6 , wherein the frame body has an overhang portion including a blocking portion configured to block erroneous loading of the battery. 10. The apparatus according to claim 9 , wherein the front end portion of the battery includes a discriminating tab disposed at a predetermined location; and the blocking portion included in the overhang portion of the frame body comprises a projecting bar extending in a position that is not aligned with the discriminating tab of the battery if the battery is permitted to be loaded on the battery loading portion. 11. The apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein the location of the discriminating tab on the battery is a function of whether the battery is permitted to be loaded on the battery loading portion. 12. The apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein the projecting bar extends toward, but spaced from, the bottom surface of the battery loading portion. 13. The apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein the discriminating tab is adjacent the windows of the battery, and the projecting bar is proximate and spaced from the plural terminals in the battery loading portion. 14. The apparatus according to claim 5 , wherein the battery loading portion is surrounded by at least three frame bodies. 15. The apparatus according to claim 5 , wherein the lock mechanism includes a push-up plate configured to be contacted by the bottom surface of the battery received in the battery loading portion.
