What is claimed is: 1. A method for forming a coating on a stent supported by a collet, the method comprising: spraying or drying the coating on the stent while supporting an end of the stent on the collet; and separating the stent from the collet by supplying a pulse of air to the stent. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the separating of the stent from the collet is performed by vibrating the collet in addition to supplying the pulse of air. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the separating of the stent is performed during performance of the spraying while the stent is being rotated. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the separating of the stent is performed during performance of the spraying. 5. The method of claim 4 , further comprising drying the coating on the stent after said spraying, said drying performed while supporting the end of the stent on the collet. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the separating of the stent is performed during performance of the drying, said drying including passing heated gas over the stent. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the separating of the stent is performed during performance of the drying, said drying being after the stent has been sprayed with the coating. 8. The method of claim 7 , further comprising, after said drying, spraying the stent with another layer of coating while supporting the end of the stent on the collet. 9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the separating of the stent is performed before the coating on the stent has dried completely. 10. The method of claim 2 , wherein the separating of the stent is performed during performance of the spraying. 11. The method of claim 10 , further comprising drying the coating on the stent after said spraying, said drying performed while supporting the end of the stent on the collet. 12. The method of claim 2 , wherein the separating of the stent is performed during performance of the drying, said drying including passing heated gas over the stent. 13. The method of claim 2 , wherein the separating of the stent is performed during performance of the drying, said drying being after the stent has been sprayed with the coating, and the method further comprises spraying the stent with another layer of coating after said drying. 14. The method of claim 2 , wherein the separating of the stent is performed before the coating on the stent has dried completely. 15. The method of claim 1 , further comprising separating the stent from the collet by vibrating the collet. 16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the separating of the stent by vibrating is performed during performance of the spraying. 17. The method of claim 16 , further comprising drying the coating on the stent after said spraying, said drying performed while supporting the end of the stent on the collet. 18. The method of claim 15 , wherein the separating of the stent by vibrating is performed during performance of the drying, said drying including passing heated gas over the stent. 19. The method of claim 15 , wherein the separating of the stent by vibrating is performed during performance of the drying, said drying being after the stent has been sprayed with the coating, and the method further comprises spraying the stent with another layer of coating after said drying. 20. The method of claim 15 , wherein the separating of the stent by vibrating is performed before the coating on the stent has dried completely.
