The present application describes a method for designing and manufacturing a denture device for a patient. A method is described for designing a virtual denture and manufacturing a functional fitting replica denture from the virtual denture. An apparatus comprising a functional fitting replica denture is prepared having denture teeth having a fit substantially similar to the final denture. The methods and apparatus described herein reduce the number of visits required to manufacture the final denture.

We claim: 1. A denture device comprising a first portion comprising a physical model of a denture that fits securely in the mouth of a patient comprising a first material, comprising first and second posterior teeth regions, and a gap between the posterior teeth regions corresponding to a plurality of teeth in an anterior teeth region; and an anterior gingival region adjacent the gap; and a second portion comprising a second material that comprises an anterior gingival architecture on a buccal surface of the physical model adjacent the gap, wherein the second material is different from the first material, and wherein the second material at least partially fills the gap in the physical model; and a plurality of anterior denture teeth positioned in the gap, each of the denture teeth partially embedded in the second material. 2. The denture device of claim 1 , wherein the first material comprises a 3D printable polymeric material. 3. The denture device of claim 1 , wherein the second material comprises a wax. 4. The denture device of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of denture teeth are adjacent a planar ridge that extends between the posterior teeth regions and that abuts the gap adjacent an anterior gingival region. 5. The denture device of claim 1 , the first material comprising a gingiva indentation on the buccal surface of the physical model surrounding a portion of the gap, the gingiva indentation at least partially filled with the second material. 6. The denture device of claim 5 , wherein the second material within the gingival indentation comprises the gingival architecture that corresponds to a portion of the patient's gingival structures. 7. The denture device of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of anterior denture teeth comprise four or more denture teeth that are selected from central incisors, lateral incisors, and cuspids. 8. The denture device of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of anterior denture teeth comprises six denture teeth comprising central incisors, lateral incisors, and cuspids. 9. The denture device of claim 1 , further comprising one or more posterior denture teeth. 10. The denture device of claim 1 , comprising an upper portion of a denture device, a lower portion or a denture device, or an upper and a lower portion of a denture device. 11. The denture device of claim 1 , comprising an upper portion of a denture device or a lower portion of a denture device, and further comprising an occlusal recording device comprising a deformable material that fits on the mandible of the patient. 12. A denture device comprising a physical model of a denture that fits securely in the mouth of a patient, comprised of a first material comprising lingual and buccal gingival regions, a ridge between the lingual and buccal gingival regions, and a gingival indentation in a portion of the buccal gingival region; a second material comprising a wax material that is within the gingival indentation that comprises a buccal gingival architecture that is a wax model of a portion of a gingival architecture of the patient's buccal gingival region, and one or more denture teeth adjacent the ridge of the physical model wherein a portion of the tooth of the one or more denture teeth that is adjacent the ridge is embedded in the wax material. 13. The denture device of claim 12 , wherein the one or more denture teeth comprise a neck region that is surrounded by the wax material. 14. The denture device of claim 12 , wherein the crown of the denture teeth is not embedded in the wax material. 15. The denture device of claim 12 , wherein the physical model comprises one or more teeth regions selected from an anterior teeth region, a posterior teeth region, or both anterior and posterior teeth regions. 16. The denture device of claim 12 , wherein the physical model comprises a gap that provides a space in the physical model for one or more denture teeth and a planar ridge that abuts the gap. 17. The denture device of claim 12 wherein the physical model comprises a base with an inner shape that fits securely on the maxillae or mandible of the patient. 18. The denture device of claim 12 , wherein the denture device comprises a partial denture. 19. A denture device comprising a physical model of a denture that fits securely in the mouth of a patient comprised of a first material that comprises one or more teeth regions selected from an anterior teeth region, a posterior teeth region, or both anterior and posterior teeth regions, a gingival region adjacent the teeth regions having a first gingival structure that substantially corresponds to a first portion of the patient's gingival architecture, and a second portion of the gingival region comprising a gingival indentation; and a second material within the gingival indentation, having a second gingival structure that corresponds to a second portion of the patient's gingival architecture, wherein the second material is different from the first material. 20. The denture device of claim 19 , comprising the anterior teeth region and the gingival indention is adjacent the anterior teeth region of the physical model.
