Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery (large size cell) that has high output (low resistance) and high capacity makes it possible to improve the cycle characteristics of a battery by controlling the balance of the resistance between positive and negative electrodes. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery has a positive electrode which comprises an active material and a conductive aid, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte layer, and having battery capacity of 3 Ah or more and an absolute value of battery internal resistance of 30 mΩ or less, in which the non-aqueous electrolyte second battery is characterized in that the zeta (ζ) potential between the active material and the conductive aid is in the range of 0.3 mV to 2 mV as an absolute value.

The invention claimed is: 1. A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising a positive electrode which comprises an active material and a conductive aid, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte layer and having battery capacity of 3 Ah or more and an absolute value of battery internal resistance of 30 mΩ or less, wherein the zeta (ζ) potential between the active material and the conductive aid is in the range of 0.3 mV to 2 mV as an absolute value, and wherein the conductive aid of the positive electrode comprises a first conductive aid with specific surface area of 40 to 100 m 2 /g and a second conductive aid with specific surface area of 15 to 35 m 2 /g at mixing ratio of 1:1 to 5:1 (mass ratio). 2. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery according to claim 1 , wherein the area defined value of battery internal resistance is 40 Ω·cm 2 or less and the reaction resistance ratio between the positive electrode and negative electrode (negative electrode/positive electrode) is in the range of 0.7 to 1.3.
