Lock devices, systems, and methods that can include an internal mechanism to permit backdriven operation and lost motion operation. In one form the lock includes an assembly of parts that includes parts having locating features that can assist in those parts being assembled with other parts of the assembly in a single, relative orientation. Further, lost motion may be utilized to accommodate manual displacement of one or more components that can also be displaceable, in at least certain situations, via operation of a motor. The lock can also include an internal power source capable of driving electronics used to determine handedness of a door.

The invention claimed is: 1. An apparatus comprising: a door bolt housing structured to be installed in a door enclose, a bolt, and a cam in cooperative relationship with the bolt, the cam having an extension that engages a bolt aperture of the bolt to extend and retract the bolt when the cam is manipulated by a complementary drive member, the cam having: a cam portion structured to receive the complementary shaped drive member in only one orientation relative to the cam portion; and a first surface feature sized to cooperate with a first mating feature of the door bolt housing such that the cam is operably installed at only one orientation relative to the door bolt housing; a second surface feature sized to cooperate with a second mating feature of the door bolt housing, the first and second mating features having the same shape, one being smaller than the other so that the second surface feature is further sized to not cooperate with the first mating feature, the first mating feature being a first side cutout in the door bolt housing, and the second mating feature being a second side cutout in the door bolt housing. 2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the cam portion is a cam aperture into which is received the complementary shaped drive member. 3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first surface feature includes at least one protrusion capable of fitting through the door bolt housing in only one direction, and wherein a horizontal position of the complementary shaped drive member represents a bolt retracted position and a vertical position of the complementary shaped drive member represents a bolt extended position. 4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the complementary shaped drive member is coupled to a lock cylinder assembly. 5. The apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the lock cylinder assembly includes a post structured to limit rotation of the complementary shaped drive member. 6. The apparatus of claim 1 , which further includes an electric motor, a gear train, and a member structured to interact with an output of the gear train and having an opening for receiving the complementary shaped drive member.
