Provided are compounds of the following: wherein R 1 is a saturated or unsaturated cyclic hydrocarbon optionally substituted with an alkyl and/or an OXO-ester, and R 2 is a C 4 to C 14 hydrocarbyl, preferably the residue of a C 4 to C 14 OXO-alcohol. Also provided are processes for making the compounds and plasticized polymer compositions containing said compounds.

The invention claimed is: 1. A mixture comprising at least two compounds represented by the formula: wherein R 1 is a saturated or unsaturated cyclic hydrocarbon substituted with an OXO-ester, and R 2 is a C 4 to C 14 hydrocarbyl, wherein in the first compound, R 1 is a saturated cyclic hydrocarbon substituted with OXO-ester, and in the second compound R 1 is an unsaturated cyclic hydrocarbon substituted with an OXO-ester. 2. The mixture of claim 1 , wherein in the first and/or second compound R 1 is located at the ortho-, meta- or para-position. 3. The mixture of claim 2 , wherein in the second compound R 1 is a phenyl group located at the para-position where the phenyl is substituted with an OXO-ester at the ortho-, meta-, or para-position. 4. The mixture of claim 1 , wherein in the first and/or second compound R 2 is not linear. 5. The mixture of claim 1 , wherein in the first and/or second compound R 2 is branched. 6. The mixture of claim 1 where each R 1 is a C 6 ring optionally substituted with an OXO-ester. 7. A process for making a mixture comprising at least two compounds of the formula: wherein R 1 is a cyclic hydrocarbon substituted with an OXO-ester, and R 2 is a C 4 to C 14 alkyl group, wherein in the first compound, R 1 is a saturated cyclic hydrocarbon substituted with OXO-ester, and in the second compound R 1 is an unsaturated cyclic hydrocarbon substituted with an OXO-ester, the process comprising the steps of: reacting benzene or alkylated benzene under conditions appropriate to form alkylated biphenyl; optionally alkylating biphenyl to form said alkylated biphenyl; oxidizing the alkyl group(s) on said alkylated biphenyl to form acid groups; and reacting said acid groups with an OXO-alcohol under esterification conditions to form said compounds, wherein after reacting said acid groups with an OXO-alcohol under esterification conditions, the reaction product is contacted with a basic solution.
