Abstract

Soft magnetic core, in which permeabilities that occur at least two different locations of the core are different.

First claim

Opening claim text (preview).

The invention claimed is: 1. A soft magnetic core, comprising at least a first portion having a first magnetic permeability and a second portion having a second magnetic permeability which is different from said first magnetic permeability and wherein a ratio of said first magnetic permeability to said second magnetic permeability is 1:1.1 or greater, and wherein said core comprises a soft magnetic tape and wherein said soft magnetic tape has a length and wherein a magnetic permeability of said tape increases over said length as said tape is radially wound from an interior of said core outwardly so that said magnetic permeability of said core increases in a radial direction moving outward from said interior of said core. 2. The soft magnetic core according to claim 1 , wherein said core has an annular shape. 3. The soft magnetic core according to claim 1 , wherein said core comprises at least two different soft magnetic elements each having a different magnetic permeability compared to the other that are joined to one another. 4. The soft magnetic core according to claim 3 , wherein one of said soft magnetic elements has an inherently nonhomogeneous magnetic permeability distribution and said other of said elements has a radially changing magnetic permeability. 5. The soft magnetic core according to claim 3 , wherein at least one of said soft magnetic elements comprises one or more tapes. 6. The soft magnetic core according to claim 1 , comprising a one-piece powder core element.
