Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

In a suspension controlling apparatus for a vehicle including a suspension whose damping force is variably settable and a control unit capable of controlling the damping force of the suspension, for appropriately obtaining a pitch behavior. When a vibration state of a vehicle in a vertical direction exceeds a given vibration state, a control unit controls damping force of suspensions on the basis of a target damping force in order to execute a skyhook control. However, when acceleration in a forward and rearward direction of the vehicle is outside a given range, a decision condition for the given vibration state is changed to a condition on the side on which the skyhook controlling damping force control of the suspensions is less likely to be started.

What is claimed is: 1. A suspension controlling apparatus for a motorcycle, comprising: a front suspension operatively mounted to a front wheel and a rear suspension operatively mounted to a rear wheel, said front and rear suspensions having a damping force that is variably settable; and a control unit configured to control the damping force of the front and rear suspensions; wherein when a vibration state of the motorcycle in a vertical direction exceeds a given vibration state, the control unit controls the damping force of the front and rear suspensions on the basis of target damping force in order to execute a skyhook controlling damping force, but when acceleration in a forward and rearward direction of the motorcycle is outside a given range, a decision condition for the given vibration state is changed to a condition on a side on which the skyhook controlling damping force control of the suspension has less of a chance to be started. 2. The suspension controlling apparatus for a motorcycle according to claim 1 , wherein the control unit is capable of executing pitch suppression control for suppressing pitching of the motorcycle and changes, during execution of the pitch suppression control, the decision condition for the given vibration state to the condition on the side on which the skyhook controlling damping force control of the front and rear suspensions has less of a chance to be started. 3. The suspension controlling apparatus for a motorcycle according to claim 1 , and further comprising: a stroke sensor configured to detect a stroke of the front and rear suspensions; wherein the control unit decides the vibration state from a detection value of the stroke sensor. 4. The suspension controlling apparatus for a motorcycle according to claim 2 , and further comprising: a stroke sensor configured to detect a stroke of the front and rear suspensions; wherein the control unit decides the vibration state from a detection value of the stroke sensor. 5. The suspension controlling apparatus for a motorcycle according to claim 1 , wherein the skyhook controlling damping force calculation unit determines damping force for the front and rear suspensions to stabilize the motorcycle body against a road surface input. 6. The suspension controlling apparatus for a motorcycle according to claim 1 , and further including a selector for selecting the actual acceleration obtained by an actual acceleration calculator when the acceleration is in the forward and rearward direction obtained by the acceleration calculator and when the braking state obtained from the brake system is in an antilock braking controlling state is equal to or lower than a given acceleration. 7. The suspension controlling apparatus for a motorcycle according to claim 6 , wherein when the acceleration is higher than the given acceleration, the selector selects an acceleration in the forward and rearward direction obtained by the acceleration calculator. 8. A suspension controlling apparatus for a motorcycle, comprising: a front suspension operatively mounted to a front wheel and a rear suspension operatively mounted to a rear wheel, said front and rear suspensions having a variably settable damping force; and a control unit for controlling the damping force of the front and rear suspensions; said control unit controlling the damping of the front and rear suspensions on the basis of a target damping force when a vibration state of the motorcycle in a vertical direction exceeds a given vibration state; wherein when acceleration in a forward and rearward direction of the motorcycle is outside a given range, a decision condition for the given vibration state is changed to a condition on a side on which the skyhook controlling damping force control of the front and rear suspensions has less of a chance to be started. 9. The suspension controlling apparatus for a motorcycle according to claim 8 , wherein the control unit is capable of executing pitch suppression control for suppressing pitching of the motorcycle and changes, during execution of the pitch suppression control, the decision condition for the given vibration state to the condition on the side on which the skyhook controlling damping force control of the front and rear suspensions has less of a chance to be started. 10. The suspension controlling apparatus for a motorcycle according to claim 8 , and further comprising: a stroke sensor configured to detect a stroke of the front and rear suspensions; wherein the control unit decides the vibration state from a detection value of the stroke sensor. 11. The suspension controlling apparatus for a motorcycle according to claim 9 , and further comprising: a stroke sensor configured to detect a stroke of the front and rear suspensions; wherein the control unit decides the vibration state from a detection value of the stroke sensor. 12. The suspension controlling apparatus for a motorcycle according to claim 8 , wherein the skyhook controlling damping force calculation unit determines damping force for the front and rear suspensions stabilize the motorcycle body against a road surface input. 13. The suspension controlling apparatus for a motorcycle according to claim 8 , and further including a selector for selecting an actual acceleration obtained by an actual acceleration calculator when the acceleration is in the forward and rearward direction obtained by the acceleration calculator and when the braking state obtained from the brake system is in an antilock braking controlling state is equal to or lower than a given acceleration. 14. The suspension controlling apparatus for a motorcycle according to claim 13 , wherein when the acceleration is higher than the given acceleration, the selector selects an acceleration in the forward and rearward direction obtained by the acceleration calculator. 15.
