In an image forming apparatus, when a pivot plate is at a closed position, a free end of the pivot plate is at a vertical level higher than first and second hinge portions which are arranged apart from each other in a width direction along a horizontal direction. A free end of the pivot plate moves in a space defined between first and second virtual vertical planes. The first virtual vertical plane is defined as a virtual vertical plane, on which a widthwise inner end of a first hinge portion is disposed, and which is perpendicular to a rotational center axis of the first hinge portion. The second virtual vertical plane is defined as a virtual vertical plane, on which a widthwise inner end of the second hinge portion is disposed, and which is perpendicular to a rotational center axis of the second hinge portion.

What is claimed is: 1. An image forming apparatus comprising: a printer having a sheet discharge tray at an upper portion of the printer; a scanner provided at a vertical level higher than the sheet discharge tray, the scanner being connected to the printer such that the scanner is pivotable between an open position and a closed position relative to the printer; a discharge roller provided to the printer and configured to rotate in a forward direction to discharge a sheet toward the sheet discharge tray and rotate in a reverse direction opposite to the forward direction; and a pivot member provided to the printer and configured to pivot between an open position and a closed position relative to the printer, the pivot member being configured to, at the closed position, define part of a re-conveying path, along which a sheet is conveyed by the discharge roller rotating in the reverse direction, wherein at least part of the pivot member located at the closed position is offset from the scanner located at the closed position when viewed from above the scanner. 2. The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the scanner and the pivot member are arranged relative to each other such that the scanner located at the closed position occupies a specified region in a horizontal direction, and the at least part of the pivot member is disposed out of the specified region in the horizontal direction. 3. The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a pivot cover configured to pivot between an open position and a closed position relative to the printer, the pivot cover being mechanically interlocked with the pivotal movement of the pivot member such that the pivot cover is in the open position when the pivot member is in the open position, and the pivot cover is in the closed position when the pivot member is in the closed position, and wherein the pivot cover is arranged relative to the scanner such that at least part of the pivot cover located at the closed position is offset from the scanner located at the closed position when viewed from above the scanner. 4. The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the pivot member has a center axis of pivotal movement at a lower portion of the pivot member. 5. The image forming apparatus according to claim 4 , wherein an upper end of the pivot member located at the closed position is offset from the scanner when viewed from above the scanner. 6. The image forming apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the pivot member has a center axis of pivotal movement at a lower portion of the pivot member, at least part of the center axis of pivotal movement of the pivot member being disposed out of the specified region in the horizontal direction. 7. The image forming apparatus according to claim 4 , wherein the center axis of pivotal movement of the pivot member extends horizontally. 8. The image forming apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the scanner has a scanner wall having an outer surface that extends vertically, a groove being formed on the outer surface of the scanner wall and extending vertically, the at least part of the pivot member being accommodated in the groove. 9. The image forming apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the printer has a housing, to which the discharge roller and the pivot member are supported, the housing having a housing wall that extends vertically, an opening being formed in the housing wall, wherein the scanner has a scanner wall that extends vertically and is separate away from the housing wall of the printer in a horizontal direction in the state that the scanner is at the closed position, wherein the pivot member is supported to the housing of the printer so as to partially protrude through the opening from an inside of the housing of the printer to an outside of the housing of the printer, and wherein in a state that both of the scanner and the pivot member are in their closed positions, the at least part of the pivot member is disposed outside the housing and is positioned between the housing wall and the scanner wall in the horizontal direction. 10. The image forming apparatus according to claim 9 , further comprising a pivot cover supported to the housing of the printer and configured to pivot between an open position to open the opening and a closed position to close the opening relative to the housing of the printer, the pivot cover being mechanically interlocked with the pivotal movement of the pivot member such that the pivot cover is in the open position when the pivot member is in the open position, and the pivot cover is in the closed position when the pivot member is in the closed position, and wherein the pivot cover is arranged relative to the scanner such that at least part of the pivot cover located at the closed position is offset from the scanner located at the closed position when viewed from above the scanner. 11. The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the printer is of an electrophotographic type. 12. The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the printer is provided with a pair of hinge portions connecting the scanner to the printer, center axes of rotations of the pair of hinge portions extending horizontally, the pair of hinge portions being disposed apart from each other horizontally, the at least part of the pivot member being interposed between the pair of hinge portions, and wherein the center axis of pivotal movement of the pivot member is positioned at a vertical level lower than the pair of hinge portions. 13. The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the scanner and the pivot member are arranged relative to each other such that in a state that both of the scanner and the pivot member are at their closed positions, the scanner and the at least part of the pivot member are disposed at such positions that are different from each other in a horizontal direction, but are the same as each other in a vertical direction.
