Compositions and methods including and related to the Ebola Bundibugyo virus (EboBun) are provided. Compositions are provided that are operable as immunogens to elicit and immune response or protection from EboBun challenge in a subject such as a primate. Inventive methods are directed to detection and treatment of EboBun infection.

The invention claimed: 1. An immunogenic composition comprising: a protein consisting of an amino acid sequence of: at least 70 contiguous residues of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 9(GP); and an immunostimulatory adjuvant present in an amount that increases an immune response to the immunogenic composition in a subject. 2. The immunogenic composition of claim 1 , wherein the protein consists of at least 80 contiguous residues of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 9. 3. The immunogenic composition of claim 1 , wherein the protein consists of at least 100 contiguous residues of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 9. 4. The immunogenic composition of claim 1 , wherein the protein consists of at least 150 contiguous residues of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 9. 5. The immunogenic composition of claim 1 , wherein the protein consists of at least 200 contiguous residues of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 9. 6. The immunogenic composition of claim 1 , wherein the protein consists of at least 300 contiguous residues of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 9. 7. The immunogenic composition of claim 1 , wherein the protein consists of at least 400 contiguous residues of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 9. 8. The immunogenic composition of claim 1 , wherein the protein consists of at least 500 contiguous residues of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 9. 9. The immunogenic composition of claim 1 , wherein the protein consists of at least 600 contiguous residues of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 9. 10. The immunogenic composition of claim 1 , wherein the protein consists of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 9. 11. An immunogenic composition comprising: a protein comprising an amino acid sequence at least 75% identical to SEQ ID NO: 9; and an immunostimulatory adjuvant present in an amount that increases an immune response to the immunogenic composition in a subject. 12. The immunogenic composition of claim 11 , wherein the protein consists of an amino acid sequence at least 80% identical to SEQ ID NO: 9. 13. The immunogenic composition of claim 11 , wherein the protein consists of an amino acid sequence at least 85% identical to SEQ ID NO: 9. 14. The immunogenic composition of claim 11 , wherein the protein consists of an amino acid sequence at least 90% identical to SEQ ID NO: 9. 15. The immunogenic composition of claim 11 , wherein the protein consists of an amino acid sequence at least 95% identical to SEQ ID NO: 9.
