We claim: 1. A solid state lithium carbon monofluoride primary battery, comprising: an anode comprising Li; a solid electrolyte comprising β-Li 3 PS 4 ; a cathode comprising carbon compound, CF x , and β-Li 3 PS 4 ; wherein the battery has a capacity utilization of greater than 865 mAh/g, and greater than the theoretical capacity for a CF x cathode. 2. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the cathode comprises 10%-95% CF x , 5%-70% β-Li 3 PS 4 , and 0% to 50% carbon compound, based on the total weight of the cathode. 3. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the cathode further comprises amorphous LiF. 4. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the carbon is carbon black.
