Aspects of the present invention relate to systems and methods for customizing microwave energy distribution within a chamber to accommodate various load characteristics. Additional aspects of the present invention relate to customized configurations of ports, deflectors, waveguides, conducting rods, and slots to shape and distribute energy.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is: 1. A system for applying microwave energy to molded part, the system comprising: at least one dielectric material that receives and at least partially surrounds the molded part; a chamber having a plurality of walls that define an interior and an exterior of the chamber, the chamber able to be placed in at least an open configuration and a closed configuration, the chamber further able to enclose the at least one dielectric material and the molded part surrounded by the dielectric material within the interior of the chamber when in the closed configuration and to apply a predetermined amount of pressure to the molded part when in the closed configuration and enclosing the at least one dielectric and the molded part; a microwave generator that produces microwaves having at least a first frequency; at least one wave guide that permits microwaves produced by the microwave generator to propagate to the chamber, the at least one wave guide causing the microwaves to propagate in a direction parallel to at least one of the plurality of walls of the chamber; a plurality of slots in the at least one wave guide and at least one of the plurality of walls of the chamber, the slots extending in a direction parallel to the direction of propagation of the microwaves in the at least one wave guide, the slots permitting a portion of the microwaves propagating in the at least one wave guide to exit the wave guide and enter the interior of the chamber and propagate through the at least one dielectric and the molded part; a plurality of conducting rods, wherein each of the plurality of conducting rods extends through at least one of a respective slot of the plurality of slots, each of the plurality of conducting rods extending a first distance into the interior of the chamber and a second distance into the waveguide; and wherein at least two of the plurality of conducting rods extend through a respective slot of the at least one of a respective slot of the plurality of slots. 2. The system for applying microwave energy to a molded part of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of conducting rods extend in a direction that is perpendicular to the direction of propagation of the microwaves in the waveguide. 3. The system of applying microwave energy to a molded part of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of slots further comprise and elongated portion that extends in a direction parallel to the direction of propagation of the microwaves within the waveguide and a rounded portion that receives and retains a conducting rod. 4. The system of applying microwave energy to a molded part of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of slots include a first end, a second end, and a middle portion, the middle portion being in between the first end and second end, wherein the first end comprises a first width, the second end comprises a second width, and the middle portion comprises a third width. 5. The system of applying microwave energy to a molded part of claim 4 , wherein the first width and the second width are greater than the third width. 6. The system of applying microwave energy to a molded part of claim 4 , wherein the first width is greater than or less than the second width. 7. The system of applying microwave energy to a molded part of claim 4 , wherein the first width is greater than or less than the second width. 8. The system of applying microwave energy to a molded part of claim 4 , wherein at least one of the plurality of conducting rods comprises a diameter equal to at least one of: a first width, a second width, and a third width. 9. A system for applying microwave energy to a molded part, the system comprising: at least one dielectric material that receives and at least partially surrounds the molded part; a chamber having a top panel, a bottom panel and a plurality of walls in between the top panel and bottom panel that defines an interior and an exterior of the chamber, the chamber able to be placed in at least an open configuration and a closed configuration, the chamber further able to enclose the at least one dielectric material and the molded part surrounded by the dielectric material within the interior of the chamber when in the closed configuration and to apply a predetermined amount of pressure to the molded part when in the closed configuration and enclosing the at least one dielectric and the molded part; a microwave generator that produces microwaves having at least a first frequency; at least one wave guide that permits microwaves produced by the microwave generator to propagate to the chamber, the at least one wave guide causing the microwaves to propagate in a direction parallel to at least one of the plurality of walls of the chamber; and a plurality of slots in the at least one wave guide and at least one wall of the plurality of walls of the chamber, the slots extending in a direction parallel to the direction of propagation of the microwaves in the at least one wave guide, the slots permitting a portion of the microwaves propagating in the at least one wave guide to exit the wave guide and enter the interior of the chamber and propagate through the at least one dielectric and the molded part; wherein each of the plurality of slots includes a first end, a second end, and a middle portion, the middle portion positioned between the first end and second end; and wherein each of the first end and second end comprise a first diameter, and wherein the middle portion comprises a first width, wherein the first width is smaller than the first diameter. 10. The system for applying microwave energy to a molded part of claim 9 , further comprising: a plurality of conducting rods, each of the plurality of conducting rods comprising a second diameter and being configured to extend through a respective slot of the at least one of a respective slot of the plurality of slots. 11. The system for applying microwave energy to a molded part of claim 10 , wherein each of the plurality of conducting rods extend a first distance into the interior of the chamber and a second distance into the waveguide. 12. The system of applying microwave energy to a molded part of claim 11 , wherein the second distance is less than λ/4. 13. The system of applying microwave energy to a molded part of claim 11 , wherein the second distance is equal to λ/4. 14. The system of applying microwave energy to a molded part of claim 11 , wherein the second distance is greater than λ/4. 15. A system for applying microwave energy to molded part, the system comprising: at least one dielectric material that receives and at least partially surrounds the molded part; a chamber having a plurality of walls that define an interior and an exterior of the chamber, the chamber able to be placed in at least an open configuration and a closed configuration, the chamber further able to enclose the at least one dielectric material and the molded part surrounded by the dielectric material within the interior of the chamber when in the closed configuration and to apply a predetermined amount of pressure to the molded part when in the closed configuration and enclosing the at least one dielectric and the molded part; a microwave generator that produces microwaves having at least a first frequency; at least one wave guide that permits microwaves produced by the microwave generator to propagate to the chamber, the at least one wave guide causing the microwaves to propagate in a direction parallel to at least one of the plurality of walls of the chamber; a plurality of slots in the at least one wave guide and at least one wa
