What is claimed is: 1. A microscope slide staining system, comprising: a chamber having an inner space; a plurality of reaction compartments contained in the inner space, each of the reaction compartments having an inner space; a plurality of independently movable slide support elements, each able to support a microscope slide with a biological specimen supported thereon, and wherein each slide support element is positionable relative to the reaction compartments so that the biological specimen on the microscope slide is positionable in and out of the reaction compartment corresponding thereto; sealing means corresponding to each reaction compartment for forming a pressure-tight seal for sealing the inner space of the reaction compartment; pressurizing means for pressurizing the inner space of each reaction compartment after the inner space has been sealed by the sealing means wherein each reaction compartment is pressurizable independently of each other reaction compartment; and a plurality of separate independently movable spreading devices such that at least one of the spreading devices being associated with one of the slide support elements for spreading at least one reagent on the biological specimen and the microscope slide, each spreading device extending across at least a portion of the slide support element in a way that the spreading device defines a gap between the spreading device and the microscope slide when the microscope slide is positioned on the slide support element. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the pressurizing means is a plurality of heating elements such that at least one of the heating elements is associated with one of the slide support elements to heat the reagent on the biological specimen and the microscope slide. 3. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of heating elements such that at least one of the heating elements is associated with one of the slide support elements to heat the reagent on the biological specimen and the microscope slide. 4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the pressurizing means can pressurize the sealed inner space of the reaction compartment to a pressure level above atmospheric pressure before, during, or after the at least one heating element heats the reagent on the biological specimen and the microscope slide. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the pressurizing means is a gas. 6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the pressurizing means can pressurize the sealed inner space of the reaction compartment to a pressure level above atmospheric pressure. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of each reaction compartment has a tubular shape. 8. The system of claim 7 , wherein at least a portion of each slide support element has a tubular shape. 9. The system of claim 1 wherein each reaction compartment is movable independently of each other reaction compartment. 10. The system of claim 1 wherein each reaction compartment is operable independently of each other reaction compartment. 11. The system of claim 1 , wherein each of the spreading devices engages side edges of the microscope slide when the microscope slide is positioned on the slide support element. 12. The system of claim 1 , wherein each of the spreading devices slides longitudinally along the microscope slide when the microscope slide is positioned on the slide support element. 13. The system of claim 1 , wherein the gap is such that the reagent is caused to spread across the gap by capillary action upon the spreading device contacting the reagent. 14. The system of claim 1 , wherein each of the spreading devices has a reservoir in which at least one reagent is stored in a way that the reagent is dischargeable from the reservoir onto the microscope slide in front of the spreading device when the microscope slide is positioned on the slide support element. 15. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of reagent packs with at least one reagent container on each of the reagent packs containing at least one reagent, the reagent packs supported above the slide support elements such that the reagent contained in the reagent containers can be expelled from the reagent containers onto a respective one of the microscope slides in front of a respective one of the spreading devices when the microscope slide is positioned on the slide support element. 16. The system of claim 15 , wherein each of the reagent packs has a plurality of reagent containers with each reagent container containing at least one reagent, the reagent packs being rotatable such that the reagents contained in the reagent containers can be selectively expelled from the respective reagent containers onto the respective one of the microscope slides in front of the respective one of the spreading devices when the microscope slide is positioned on the slide support element. 17. The system of claim 1 , wherein each of the spreading devices engages a track on the slide support element when the microscope slide is positioned on the slide support element. 18. A microscope slide staining system, comprising: a chamber having an inner space; a plurality of reaction compartments contained in the inner space, each of the reaction compartments having an inner space; a plurality of independently movable slide support elements, each able to support a microscope slide with a biological specimen supported thereon, and wherein each slide support element is positionable relative to the reaction compartments so that the biological specimen on the microscope slide is positionable in and out of the reaction compartment corresponding thereto; sealing means corresponding to each reaction compartment for forming a pressure-tight seal for sealing the inner space of the reaction compartment; pressurizing means for pressurizing the inner space of each reaction compartment after the inner space has been sealed by the sealing means wherein each reaction compartment is pressurizable independently of each other reaction compartment; and a plurality of separate independently movable spreading devices such that at least one of the spreading devices being associated with one of the slide support elements for spreading at least one reagent on the biological specimen and the microscope slide, each spreading device extending across at least a portion of the slide support element in a way that the spreading device defines a gap between the spreading device and the microscope slide when the microscope slide is positioned on the slide support element, wherein the pressurizing means is a plurality of heating elements such that at least one of the heating elements is associated with one of the slide support elements to heat the reagent on the biological specimen and the microscope slide, wherein the heating elements pressurize the sealed inner space of the reaction compartments to a pressure level above atmospheric pressure by heating the regent on the biological specimen and the microscope slide to a temperature exceeding 100° C. 19.
