Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An active aero flap apparatus for a muffler of a may include an aero flap including a flap wing disposed at a side of the muffler, into which vehicle-induced wind is introduced, to block introduction of the vehicle-induced wind, and flap supporters formed to expand from both ends of the flap wing, drivelines rotatably coupling ends of the flap supporters to the muffler, and actuator modules rotating the aero flap about the drivelines.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. An active aero flap apparatus for a muffler of a vehicle comprising: an aero flap comprising a flap wing disposed at a side of the muffler, into which vehicle-induced wind is introduced, to block introduction of the vehicle-induced wind, and flap supporters formed to expand from each of two ends of the flap wing; drivelines rotatably coupling ends of the flap supporters to the muffler; and actuator modules including actuators and rotating the aero flap about the drivelines. 2. The active aero flap apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein each of the drivelines comprises: a shaft fixing each corresponding flap supporter to the muffler; a shaft head formed at an end of the shaft; and a bushing rotating the corresponding flap supporter coupled to the shaft. 3. The active aero flap apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein each of the drivelines comprises a spring, a first end of which is fixed at the corresponding flap supporter and a second end of which is fixed at the corresponding driveline, and the spring provides restoring force due to elastic force upon operation of the aero flap. 4. The active aero flap apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein each of the flap supporters of the aero flap is bored to form a spring insertion hole, to which the first end of the spring is insertedly coupled, and each of the drivelines includes a stopper for fixing the second end of the spring. 5. The active aero flap apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising flap protrusions formed to protrude from ends of the flap supporters and to each have an assigned length, wherein the flap protrusions are pressed against by ends of the actuators to rotate the aero flap upon operation of the actuator modules. 6. The active aero flap apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein each of the flap supporters is bored to form a shaft insertion hole for coupling of the shaft at an end thereof. 7. The active aero flap apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a controller controlling operation of the actuator modules, wherein the controller receives vehicle information to determine one of a section for preventing heat damage or a section for prioritizing fuel efficiency, wherein in the section for preventing heat damage, the controller controls the actuator modules to rotate the flap wing and for vehicle-induced wind to be introduced to the muffler side, and wherein in the section for prioritizing fuel efficiency, the controller controls the actuator modules to block introduction of the vehicle-induced wind to the muffler side. 8. The active aero flap apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the muffler is formed to have curved actuator insertion grooves at sides thereof, into which the actuator modules are inserted. 9. The active aero flap apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising fixing brackets fixing the actuator modules to the muffler.
