Official abstract text for this publication.
A coaxial connector for interconnection with a coaxial cable with a solid outer conductor by ultrasonic welding is provided with a monolithic connector body with a bore. An annular flare seat is angled radially outward from the bore toward a connector end of the connector, the annular flare seat open to the connector end of the connector. An inner conductor cap is provided for interconnection with an inner conductor of the coaxial cable by ultrasonic welding. The ultrasonic welding of each of the inner and outer conductor interconnections may be performed via inner conductor and outer conductor sonotrodes which are coaxial with one another, without requiring the cable and or connector to be removed from their fixture.

I claim: 1. A coaxial connector for interconnection with a coaxial cable with an outer conductor, the coaxial connector comprising: a monolithic connector body with a bore dimensioned to receive the outer conductor through the bore, wherein the monolithic connector body is provided with a connector body flange extending radially from an outer diameter of the monolithic connector body and wherein the connector body flange is provided with a plurality of interlock apertures; an annular flare seat angled radially outward from the bore toward a connector end of the coaxial connector; wherein the annular flare seat is open to the connector end of the coaxial connector; and an inner conductor cap dimensioned to seat upon a prepared end of an inner conductor of the coaxial cable. 2. The coaxial connector of claim 1 , further including an overbody comprising polymeric material and on the outer diameter of the monolithic connector body. 3. The coaxial connector of claim 2 , wherein the overbody includes an alignment cylinder of a connector interface at a connector end of the coaxial connector. 4. The coaxial connector of claim 2 , wherein the overbody extends from a cable end of the monolithic connector body, and wherein a plurality of stress relief apertures are provided therethrough. 5. The coaxial connector of claim 4 , wherein the stress relief apertures are generally elliptically shaped, a major axis of each stress relief aperture arranged normal to a longitudinal axis of the coaxial connector. 6. The coaxial connector of claim 2 , further including a rotational interlock between the overbody and the monolithic connector body. 7. The coaxial connector of claim 1 , wherein the inner conductor cap is provided with a rotation key. 8. A coaxial cable in combination with a coaxial connector, the coaxial cable comprising: a monolithic connector body with a bore dimensioned to receive an outer conductor of the coaxial cable through the bore; an annular flare seat angled radially outward from the bore toward a connector end of the coaxial connector; wherein the annular flare seat is open to the connector end of the coaxial connector; and a flared end of the outer conductor of the coaxial cable welded to the annular flare seat. 9. The combination of claim 8 , further including an inner conductor cap welded upon an inner conductor of the coaxial cable. 10. The combination of claim 9 , wherein the inner conductor cap is seated upon a prepared end of the inner conductor; the prepared end provided with a material gap. 11. The combination of claim 8 , further including a polymer overbody surrounding an outer diameter of the monolithic connector body. 12. The combination of claim 11 , wherein the monolithic connector body is provided with a connector body flange extending radially from an outer diameter of the monolithic connector body, and wherein the connector body flange is provided with a plurality of interlock apertures into which the polymer overbody extends. 13. The combination of claim 11 , wherein the polymer overbody includes an alignment cylinder of a connector interface at a connector end of the coaxial connector. 14. The combination of claim 11 , wherein the polymer overbody extends from a cable end of the monolithic connector body, and wherein a plurality of stress relief apertures are provided therethrough. 15. The combination of claim 14 , wherein the stress relief apertures are generally elliptically shaped, a major axis of each stress relief aperture arranged normal to a longitudinal axis of the coaxial connector. 16. The combination of claim 8 , wherein both the connector body and the outer conductor of the coaxial cable are aluminum alloy. 17. The combination of claim 11 , wherein the coaxial cable includes a polymer jacket and a cable end of the polymer overbody is molded therearound, sealed against the polymer jacket.
