Official abstract text for this publication.
A rotary drill bit is disclosed. The rotary drill bit may include a bit body, a cutting pocket defined in the bit body, and a cutting element rotatably coupled to the bit body. The cutting element may be positioned at least partially within the cutting pocket. The rotary drill bit may also include a rotation-inducing member adjacent to the cutting element for inducing rotation of the cutting element relative to the cutting pocket. The rotation-inducing member may include a resilient member or a vibrational member. The rotary drill bit may also include protrusions extending from an interior of the cutting pocket adjacent to an outer diameter of the cutting element. A method of drilling a formation is also disclosed.

What is claimed is: 1. A drill bit, comprising: a bit body having at least one blade including a leading face; at least one cutting pocket at least partially defined in the at least one blade; at least one cutting element including a cutting face and a side surface, the at least one cutting element being at least partially disposed within the at least one cutting pocket; at least one structure having a first end coupled with the leading face of the at least one blade and a second end adjacent to the at least one cutting element, the at least one structure being configured to maintain a position of the at least one cutting element within the at least one cutting pocket and also to facilitate rotation of the at least one cutting element within the at least one cutting pocket. 2. The drill bit of claim 1 , wherein the second end of the at least one structure is in facing opposition to the cutting face of the at least one cutting element. 3. The drill bit of claim 1 , wherein the second end of the at least one structure occludes a portion of the cutting face when viewed from a position facing the cutting face. 4. The drill bit of claim 1 , wherein the second end of the at least one structure inhibits axial displacement of the at least one cutting element out of the at least one cutting pocket. 5. The drill bit of claim 1 , further comprising at least one bearing located between the at least one structure and the at least one cutting element. 6. The drill bit of claim 5 , wherein the at least one bearing is located between the second end of the at least one structure and the cutting face of the at least one cutting element. 7. The drill bit of claim 1 , further comprising at least one bearing located between the at least one cutting element and the at least one cutting pocket. 8. The drill bit of claim 1 , wherein the first end of the at least one structure is removably coupled with the bit body. 9. The drill bit of claim 1 , further comprising a fastener coupling the first end of the at least one structure to the bit body. 10. The drill bit of claim 1 , wherein the at least one structure contacts the side surface of the at least one cutting structure. 11. The drill bit of claim 1 , wherein the first end of the at least one structure is disposed within a recess formed in the bit body. 12. The drill bit of claim 1 , wherein the at least one cutting element includes a superabrasive table bonded to a substrate. 13. The drill bit of claim 12 , wherein the superabrasive table comprises polycrystalline diamond and wherein the substrate comprises cemented tungsten carbide. 14. The drill bit of claim 13 , wherein at least a portion of the polycrystalline material is substantially devoid of a catalyst material. 15. The drill bit of claim 1 , wherein the at least one cutting pocket includes a plurality of cutting pockets, wherein the at least one cutting element includes a plurality of cutting elements and wherein the at least one structure includes a plurality of cutting structures. 16. The drill bit of claim 1 , further comprising at least one of a wear-resistant coating and a friction reducing coating disposed over at least a portion of a surface of the at least one cutting pocket. 17. The drill bit of claim 1 , wherein the at least one structure defines a portion of the at least one cutting pocket.
