What is claimed is: 1. A method of making an animal feed, the method comprising: (i) treating a comminuted lignocellulosic biomass with electron beam radiation of greater than 5 Mrad of radiation and at a dosing rate sufficient to produce a recalcitrance reduced lignocellulosic biomass; and (ii) combining said recalcitrance reduced lignocellulosic biomass with a solid additive, thereby producing said animal feed. 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the lignocellulosic biomass comprises corn cobs and/or corn stover. 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the solid additive is selected from a group consisting of an enzyme, microorganism, animal products, antibiotics, nutrients, prebiotics, flavoring agents, coloring agents, preservatives, metabolic modifiers and mixtures thereof. 4. The method of claim 3 wherein the enzyme comprises a multiple enzyme cocktail. 5. The method of claim 3 wherein the enzyme comprises a dried enzyme. 6. The method of claim 3 wherein the enzyme comprises an enzyme requiring activation. 7. The method of claim 3 wherein the enzyme is selected from the group consisting of phytase, cellulase, lactase, lipase, pepsin, catalase, xylanase, pectinase, and mixtures thereof. 8. The method of claim 3 wherein the microorganism is selected from a group consisting of bacteria, yeast, fungi, algae and mixtures thereof. 9. The method of claim 3 wherein the microorganism is selected from a group consisting of Aspergillus niger, Baccillus subtillis, Bifidobacterium animalis, Bifidobacterium, bifidum, Enterococcus faecium, Aspergillus oryzae, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Streptococcus lactis , and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. 10. The method of claim 3 wherein the animal product is selected from a group consisting of animal meat, poultry, animal bone, animal fat, animal waste-product, dairy product, marine product, fat, oil and mixtures thereof. 11. The method of claim 3 wherein the antibiotic is selected from a group consisting of tetracyclines, macrolides, fluoroquinolones, streptogramins and mixtures thereof. 12. The method of claim 3 wherein the nutrient is selected from a group consisting of proteins, vitamins, minerals, salts, amino acids, fatty acids and mixtures thereof. 13. The method of claim 1 wherein the solid additive is in the form of pellets, powder, tablets, blocks, particulates, or granules.
