Provided herein are compounds of the formula (IV) as well as pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein the substituents are as those disclosed in the specification. These compounds, and the pharmaceutical compositions containing them, are useful as MITF inhibitors, MITF pathway inhibitors and for the treatment of cancer.

What is claimed is: 1. A method for treating cancer, comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of 4-((1,4-dioxo-1,4-dihydronaphthalen-2-yl)amino)benzenesulfonamide to a subject in need thereof, wherein treatment is inhibiting, slowing down or stopping progression of cancer, and wherein the cancer is a MITF-dependent cancer.
