A yard leveling base for leveling a column during assembly is provided. The yard leveling base is configured to allow for a packed column section of a column to be placed on a top surface of the yard leveling base, the yard leveling base can further include a bottom surface configured to maintain substantial contact with the ground of a remote manufacturing yard, wherein the yard leveling base is adapted to adjust the level of the top surface of the yard leveling base to account for unevenness or slope of the ground of the remote manufacturing yard.

I claim: 1. A method for leveling a distillation column during assembly in a remote manufacturing yard having a ground, the method comprising the steps of: providing a yard leveling base configured to allow for a packed column section of the column to be placed on a top surface of the yard leveling base, the yard leveling base further comprising a bottom surface, wherein the bottom surface comprises a plurality of notches disposed therein, wherein each notch is configured to allow access for a lifting system to the notch while the bottom surface of the yard leveling base maintains substantial contact with the ground; installing the yard leveling base on the ground of the remote manufacturing yard; adjusting the yard leveling base until the top surface of the yard leveling base is substantially level, wherein the step of adjusting the yard leveling base further comprises the steps of inserting a lifting system into the notch located under a portion of the top surface needing adjustment while the bottom surface of the yard leveling base maintains substantial contact with the ground; and activating the lifting system to cause the top surface to raise; and placing a packed column section of the distillation column onto a top surface of the yard leveling base. 2. The method as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising securing the yard leveling base to the ground. 3. The method as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising securing the yard leveling base to the ground using a clamp system. 4. The method as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising securing the yard leveling base to the ground using anchor bolts. 5. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the yard leveling base comprises an annular shape, such that the yard leveling base has an inner diameter and an outer diameter, and the top surface and the bottom surface are parallel with each other, wherein the top surface is defined as the area between the inner diameter and the outer diameter, wherein all of the weight of the packed column section is supported by the top surface of the yard leveling base. 6. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the yard leveling base comprises a nut shape, wherein the top surface and the bottom surface are parallel with each other, wherein all of the weight of the packed column section is supported by the top surface of the yard leveling base. 7. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the yard leveling base comprises an inner diameter, an outer diameter, and a height. 8. The method as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising the step of adjusting the yard leveling base after the step of placing a packed column section of a column onto the top surface of the yard leveling base. 9. The method as claimed in claim 8 , wherein a plumb line system is used to measure the levelness of the yard leveling base during the step of adjusting the yard leveling base after the step of placing a packed column section of a column onto the top surface of the yard leveling base. 10. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein adjusting the yard leveling base further comprises the step of putting a shim underneath the yard leveling base after the lifting system has caused the top surface to raise. 11. The method as claimed in claim 10 , further comprising the step of removing the lifting system from the notch after the shim is in place underneath the yard leveling base. 12. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the packed column section has a diameter of at least 5 meters. 13. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the lifting system is selected from the group consisting of a hydraulic lift, a screw lift, an air lift, and combinations thereof. 14. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the top surface and the bottom surface maintain being parallel with each other during the step of adjusting the yard leveling base. 15. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the yard leveling base comprises an annular shape, such that the yard leveling base has an inner diameter and an outer diameter, and the top surface and the bottom surface are parallel with each other, wherein the top surface is defined as the area between the inner diameter and the outer diameter. 16. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the yard leveling base comprises a nut shape, and wherein the top surface and the bottom surface are configured to maintain being parallel with each other when the lifting system acts on the notch. 17. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the yard leveling base comprises an inner diameter, an outer diameter, and a height. 18. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the step of installing the yard leveling base on the ground of the remote manufacturing yard further comprises securing the yard leveling base to the ground. 19. The method as claimed in claim 18 , wherein the yard leveling base is secured to the ground using a clamp system. 20. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the yard leveling base is configured to accommodate a weight of 100 metric tons. 21. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the step of inserting the lifting system into the notch further comprises the step of inserting the lifting system in a direction that is orthogonal to the force of gravity. 22. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the step of inserting the lifting system into the notch further comprises sliding or rolling the lifting system into the notch. 23. A yard leveling base for leveling a column during assembly, the yard leveling base configured to allow for a packed column section of the column to be placed on a top surface of the yard leveling base, the yard leveling base further comprising a bottom surface configured to maintain substantial contact with the ground of a remote manufacturing yard, wherein the yard leveling base is adapted to adjust the level of the top surface of the yard leveling base to account for unevenness or slope of the ground of the remote manufacturing yard, wherein the bottom surface comprises a plurality of notches disposed therein, wherein each notch is configured to allow access for a lifting system to the notch such that the lifting system can raise an area of the top surface of the yard leveling base directly above the notch. 24. The yard leveling base as claimed in claim 23 , wherein the lifting system is selected from the group consisting of a hydraulic lift, a screw lift, an air lift, and combinations thereof. 25. The yard leveling base as claimed in claim 23 , wherein the top surface and the bottom surface are configured to maintain being parallel with each other anytime the lifting system acts on the notch.
