According to the present invention, a lubrication box includes a first portion, a shaving aid material, and a second portion. The first portion of the lubrication box has a skin-engaging surface and at least one sidewall that, together, form a cavity. The skin-engaging surface includes at least two holes therethrough. The shaving aid material, which is distributed in the cavity in a series of layers, is ultrasonically compressed into the cavity such that it at least partially fills at least one of the holes in the skin-engaging surface and at least a portion of the cavity. The second portion of the lubrication box is attached to the first portion such that the cavity is substantially closed. A gap exists between in the cavity between the shaving aid and the second portion of the lubrication box to permit the shaving aid material to expand during normal use.

The invention claimed is: 1. A lubrication box, comprising: a first portion of the lubrication box, the first portion having a skin-engaging surface and at least one sidewall, the skin-engaging surface and the at least one side walls forming a cavity; at least two holes extending through the skin-engaging surface of the first portion; a shaving aid having a powder material that is ultrasonically compressed to a unitary solid body into the cavity and generally matches a shape of the cavity and the holes, the shaving aid at least partially filling at least one of the holes in the skin-engaging surface and at least a portion of the cavity; and a second portion of the lubrication box, the second portion being attached to the first portion such that the cavity is substantially closed; wherein a gap exists between the cavity between the shaving aid and the second portion of the lubrication box to permit the shaving aid material to expand during normal use; and wherein an additional amount of shaving aid, separate and distinct from the shaving aid material compressed into the cavity, is applied to the skin-engaging surface of the first portion of the lubrication box. 2. The lubrication box of claim 1 , wherein the additional amount of shaving aid is sprayed onto the skin-engaging surface. 3. The lubrication box of claim 1 , wherein the additional amount of shaving aid is ultrasonically compacted onto the skin-engaging surface. 4. The lubrication box of claim 3 , wherein the skin-engaging surface includes a depressed area in which the additional amount of shaving aid is compacted. 5. The lubrication box of claim 1 , wherein the additional amount of shaving aid is pre-formed into a desired shape prior to affixing the shaving aid to the first portion of the lubrication box. 6. The lubrication box of claim 5 , wherein the additional amount of shaving aid is extruded into a strip prior to being affixed to the first portion of the lubrication box. 7. The lubrication box of claim 1 , wherein the shaving aid material comprises water soluble polymers. 8. The lubrication box of claim 1 wherein the shaving aid material consists essentially of polyethylene oxide. 9. The lubrication box of claim 1 , further including one or more subsequent layers of shaving aid material compressed into the cavity. 10. A lubrication box, comprising: a first portion of the lubrication box, the first portion having a skin-engaging surface and at least one sidewall, the skin-engaging surface and the at least one side walls forming a cavity; at least two holes extending through the skin-engaging surface of the first portion; a first layer of shaving aid having a powder material that is ultrasonically compressed to a unitary solid body into the cavity and generally matches a shape of the cavity and the holes, into the cavity, the shaving aid at least partially filling at least one of the holes in the skin engaging surface and at least a portion of the cavity; one or more subsequent layers of shaving aid having a powder material that is ultrasonically compressed to a unitary solid body onto the first layer of shaving aid material; and a second portion of the lubrication box having one or more support features extending into the cavity to hold the shaving aid in close proximity to the at least two holes on the skin-engaging surface of the first portion, the second portion being attached to the first portion such that the cavity is substantially closed; wherein a gap exists in the cavity between the shaving aid and an inner surface of the second portion of the lubrication box to permit the shaving aid material to expand during normal use; and wherein an additional amount of shaving aid, separate and distinct from the shaving aid material compressed into the cavity, is applied to the skin-engaging surface of the first portion of the lubrication box.
