A medical device including an elongate member having a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending therebetween. The medical device may further include an end-effector disposed at the distal end of the elongate member. The end-effector may include a plurality of arms pivotally connected to one another, wherein each arm includes a tissue-contacting surface, a first portion of the tissue-contacting surface including a plurality of ridges configured to grasp tissue. Further, the tissue-contacting surface may include a channel oriented substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the medical device.

What is claimed is: 1. A medical device comprising: a first arm and a second arm each having a proximal end, a distal end, an inner surface, and an outer surface, wherein the first arm and the second arm are coupled to an elongate member at the respective proximal ends of the first arm and the second arm to form a jaw-like structure, wherein at least one of the first arm and the second arm is moveably coupled to the elongate member, and wherein the inner surfaces of the first arm and the second arm cooperatively form a grasping region of the jaw-like structure; a plurality of ridges extending along the inner surface of at least one of the first arm and the second arm, wherein each of the plurality of ridges extends along the inner surface of the corresponding first arm or the second arm in a direction transverse to a longitudinal axis of the jaw-like structure; a channel extending from a proximal region to a distal region of at least one of the first arm and the second arm; and an advancing member dimensioned to be at least partially received within the channel and configured to move between a proximal region of the channel and a distal region of the channel. 2. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein the advancing member is a cutting tool. 3. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein the advancing member is at least one of a cautery tool, a suction tool, or an irrigation tool. 4. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein the advancing member is a needle. 5. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein the channel is angled or curved with respect to the longitudinal axis of the jaw-like structure. 6. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein the channel is substantially parallel with the longitudinal axis of the jaw-like structure. 7. A medical device comprising: a jaw-like structure including a first arm and a second arm, wherein the first arm and the second arm each have a proximal end and a distal end and are coupled to an elongate member at the respective proximal ends of the first arm and the second arm, wherein at least one of the first arm and the second arm is pivotably coupled to the elongate member; a grasping region of the jaw-like structure defined by an inner surface of the first arm and an inner surface of the second arm; a plurality of ridges extending along the inner surface of at least one of the first arm and the second arm, wherein each of the plurality of ridges is oriented off-axis from a longitudinal axis of the jaw-like structure; a channel extending from a proximal region to a distal region of at least one of the first arm and the second arm, wherein in the channel bisects at least some of the plurality of ridges; and a tool dimensioned to be at least partially received within the channel. 8. The medical device of claim 7 , wherein the tool is at least one of a cutting tool, a suction tool, or an irrigation tool. 9. The medical device of claim 7 , wherein a first ridge of the plurality of ridges has a first height, and a second ridge of the plurality of ridges has a second height, different than the first height. 10. The medical device of claim 7 , wherein each of the plurality of ridges is uniform in at least one of size or shape. 11. The medical device of claim 7 , wherein at least one of the plurality of ridges has an angular slope. 12. The medical device of claim 7 , wherein at least one of the plurality of ridges has an inner-most surface that forms a plateau. 13. The medical device of claim 7 , wherein at least one of the plurality of ridges has a blunt surface. 14. The medical device of claim 7 , wherein at least one of the plurality of ridges has a sharp surface. 15. The medical device of claim 7 , wherein a first of the plurality of ridges has a shape that is different than a shape of a second of the plurality of ridges. 16. The medical device of claim 7 , further comprising a plurality of projections located on the inner surface of at least one of the first arm or the second arm and configured to extend beyond the plurality of ridges on the inner surface of at least one of the first arm or the second arm. 17. The medical device of claim 16 , at least one of the plurality of projections has a barbed or hooked shape. 18. A medical device comprising: a first arm and a second arm each having a proximal end, a distal end, an inner surface, and an outer surface, wherein the first arm and the second arm are coupled to an elongate member at the respective proximal ends of the first arm and the second arm to form a jaw-like structure, wherein the inner surfaces of the first arm and the second arm cooperatively form a grasping region of the jaw-like structure, and wherein at least one of the first arm and the second arm moves relative to the other of the first arm and the second arm; a plurality of ridges extending along the inner surface of at least one of the first arm and the second arm, wherein each of the plurality of ridges extends along the inner surface of the corresponding first arm or second arm in a direction transverse to a longitudinal axis of the jaw-like structure; at least one unridged portion on the inner surface of at least one of the first arm and the second arm; and a channel extending from a proximal region to a distal region of at least one of the first arm and the second arms and a tool dimensioned to be at least partially received within the channel. 19. The end effector of claim 18 , wherein the unridged portion is an anvil. 20. The end effector of claim 18 , wherein the unridged portion is a needle holder.
