What is claimed is: 1. A method for delivering author specific content, comprising: identifying any content on multiple online resources that, based on metadata associated with the content, is allegedly generated by a specific identified author; determining whether to authenticate authorship of the content based on whether the content is found on a trusted or untrusted site, wherein authorship for content found on an untrusted site is authenticated; and delivering to a subscribing user, via an activity stream, an indication of the content identified as being by the specific identified author from the multiple online resources. 2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising crawling open content across said multiple online resources, wherein crawling said open content across said multiple online resources includes searching for signed author specific content. 3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising authenticating content that appears to have been generated by the specific identified author as actually being generated by that author. 4. The method of claim 3 , wherein authenticating said content includes using a digital signature to authenticate said content as being generated by the specific identified author. 5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising tracking an author and corresponding content in a database. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein delivering information to the subscribing user via the activity stream includes delivering said content from a social network to the subscribing user who is not a member of said social network. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein said activity stream is customized based on user input. 8. The method of claim 1 , wherein an author of said content is selected from a group consisting of an individual, a corporation, an organization, a service, a web feed, a social networking application, a blog, and combinations thereof. 9. A method for delivering author specific content, comprising: crawling open content across said multiple online resources; identifying content in any of the multiple online resources that, based on metadata associated with the content, is allegedly generated by a specific identified author; determining whether said content is from an online resource that is trusted, based on a trust policy; authenticating that the author who allegedly generated said content is the author of said content if said online resource is not trusted under the trust policy; and delivering to a subscribing user, via an activity stream, an indication of the content identified as being by the specific identified author from the multiple online resources. 10. The method of claim 9 , wherein authenticating that said apparent author is the author of said content includes using a digital signature to authenticate said content as being generated by said specific identified author. 11. The method of claim 9 , wherein said trust policy considers a uniform resource locator (URL) of an online resource containing said content. 12. The method of claim 9 , wherein said trust policy considers a digital signature from an author of said content. 13. The method of claim 9 , wherein said trust policy considers whether an identity of an author of said content is identified. 14. A method for delivering author specific content, comprising: receiving input from a user that registers the user and identifies a specific author that the user wants to follow; crawling open content across multiple online resources looking for content that appears to have been generated by the specific author; identifying content discovered by the crawling that appears to have been generated by the specific author; determining whether said content is trusted as content generated by the specific author based on a trust policy; authenticating who is author of said content if said content fails to qualify as trusted content according to said trust policy; tracking said author and said corresponding content in a database; generating an activity stream based on said user input to notify said registered user of content from said multiple online resources generated by the specific author; dynamically delivering ongoing updates about content discovered by said crawling that was generated by the specific author via said activity stream; and storing an author database that stores an identification of a first author along with an opaque string provided by a content site that includes content generated by the first author, the opaque string identifying a key that encrypts the first author's identification and the content sites Universal Resource Locator (URL). 15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the delivering of ongoing updates is performed according to user input specifying any of email, text message, posts on a webpage, and voice mail. 16. The method of claim 14 , further comprising registering authors in an author database in which authors identify their content including multiple identities for a single author in said database, each identity corresponding to a different source of content by that author.
