Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A zoom lens includes a first lens unit having positive refractive power, a second lens unit having negative refractive power, a third lens unit having positive refractive power, and a fourth lens unit having positive refractive power, in order from an object side to an image side. During zooming, the first lens unit is not moved, and the second lens unit, the third lens unit, and the fourth lens unit are moved to change an interval between adjacent lens units. A moving amount m2 of the second lens unit during zooming from a wide angle end to a telephoto end, a focal length f2 of the second lens unit, and a focal length fw of a whole system at the wide angle end are each set appropriately.

What is claimed is: 1. A zoom lens comprising, in order from an object side to an image side: a first lens unit having positive refractive power; a second lens unit having negative refractive power; a third lens unit having positive refractive power; and a fourth lens unit having positive refractive power, wherein during zooming, the first lens unit is not moved, and the second lens unit, the third lens unit, and the fourth lens unit are moved to change an interval between adjacent lens units, wherein the following conditional expressions are satisfied: −4.9< m 2/ f 2<−3.7, −2.0< f 2/ fw<− 1.5, and −25.0< m 2/ m 3<−5.5, where m2 is a moving amount of the second lens unit during zooming, which is a difference of a position of the second lens unit on an optical axis of the zoom lens at a wide angle end and at a telephoto end, m3 is a moving amount of the third lens unit during zooming, which is a difference of a position of the third lens unit on the optical axis of the zoom lens at the wide angle end and at the telephoto end, f2 is a focal length of the second lens unit, and fw is a focal length of the zoom lens at the wide angle end. 2. The zoom lens according to claim 1 , wherein the first lens unit includes one negative lens and at most three positive lenses. 3. The zoom lens according to claim 1 , wherein the second lens unit includes a negative lens, a negative lens, a negative lens, and a positive lens, in order from the object side to the image side. 4. The zoom lens according to claim 1 , further comprising an aperture stop between the second lens unit and the third lens unit, wherein the aperture stop is not moved during zooming. 5. The zoom lens according to claim 1 , wherein the following conditional expression is satisfied 0.05 <N 1 pr/N 1 pf< 1.40, where the first lens unit includes, nearest the image side, a lens G1pr having positive refractive power, N1pr is a refractive index of a material of the lens G1pr, and N1pf is a mean value of refractive indices of materials of lenses having a positive refractive power in the first lens unit other than the lens G1pr. 6. The zoom lens according to claim 1 , wherein the following conditional expression is satisfied 1.1< N 34 n/N 34 p< 1.3, where N34n is a mean value of refractive indices of materials of negative lenses included in the third lens unit and the fourth lens unit, and N34p is a mean value of refractive indices of materials of positive lenses included in the third lens unit and the fourth lens unit. 7. An image pickup device comprising: a zoom lens; and an image pickup element for receiving an image formed by the zoom lens, wherein the zoom lens comprises, in an order from an object side to an image side: a first lens unit having positive refractive power; a second lens unit having negative refractive power; a third lens unit having positive refractive power; and a fourth lens unit having positive refractive power, wherein during zooming, the first lens unit is not moved, and the second lens unit, the third lens unit, and the fourth lens unit are moved to change an interval between adjacent lens units, wherein the following conditional expressions are satisfied: −4.9< m 2/ f 2<−3.7, −2.0< f 2/ fw<− 1.5, and −25.0< m 2/ m 3<−5.5, where m2 is a moving amount of the second lens unit during zooming, which is a difference of a position of the second lens unit on an optical axis of the zoom lens at a wide angle end and at a telephoto end, m3 is a moving amount of the third lens unit during zooming, which is a difference of a position of the third lens unit on the optical axis of the zoom lens at the wide angle end and at the telephoto end, f2 is a focal length of the second lens unit, and fw is a focal length of the zoom lens at the wide angle end.
