A battery includes a first conductive substrate portion having a first face, and a second conductive substrate portion having a second face opposed to the first face. Each of the first and second faces has a perimeter portion and an interior portion inside the perimeter portion. A first electrode material of the battery is disposed in contact with the interior portion of at least one of the first and second faces, and a jettable electrolyte material disposed in contact with the first electrode material. A second electrode material is disposed in contact with the electrolyte material, and a conductive tab is disposed in contact with the second electrode material. The conductive tab extends outwardly from the interior region beyond the perimeter portion of at least one of the first and second faces.

We claim: 1. A battery, comprising: a first conductive substrate portion having a first face, and a second conductive substrate portion having a second face opposed to the first face, wherein each of the first and second faces has a perimeter portion and an interior portion inside the perimeter portion; a first electrode material disposed in electrical contact with the interior portion of the first face; an electrolyte material disposed in contact with the first electrode material; a second electrode material disposed in contact with the electrolyte material; and a conductive tab disposed in contact with the second electrode material, wherein the conductive tab extends outwardly beyond the perimeter portion of at least one of the first and second faces; wherein a ledge portion of the first conductive substrate portion extends outward beyond an edge of the second conductive substrate portion, a portion of the conductive tab is disposed on the ledge portion and comprises an exposed surface substantially coplanar with a surface of the electrolyte material, and an insulating material is disposed between the ledge portion and the conductive tab, wherein a portion of the first electrode material extends beyond the edge of the second conductive substrate portion, wherein the ledge portion of the first conductive substrate portion and the edge of the second conductive substrate portion are located on a first side of the battery. 2. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the electrolyte material comprises a solvent and from about 0.5% to 2.5% by weight of a polymer. 3. The battery of claim 1 , further including an adhesive disposed between the first and second faces. 4. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the first electrode material comprises at least one of an active material, a carbon material, a binder polymer, an ionic salt, a dispersant, and a solvent. 5. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the first and second conductive substrate portions are integral with one another and a fold portion is disposed therebetween. 6. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the first and second conductive substrate portions are discrete elements. 7. The battery of claim 1 , wherein the first electrode material is disposed in electrical contact with the second face. 8. The battery of claim 7 , wherein the electrolyte material is disposed in contact with the first electrode material that is disposed in contact with both of the first and the second faces. 9. The battery of claim 3 , wherein the adhesive secures the first face and the second face. 10. The battery of claim 1 , wherein a first web of material comprises the first conductive substrate portion and a second web of material comprises the second conductive substrate portion. 11. The battery of claim 3 , wherein the adhesive comprises at least one of a vinyl polymer, toluene, and xylene. 12. The battery of claim 1 , further comprising a further insulating material disposed between the second face and the conductive tab. 13. The battery of claim 1 , further comprising a further conductive tab coupled to one of the first and the second conductive substrates, wherein the further conductive tab extends beyond the perimeter of at least one of the first and the second faces. 14. The battery of claim 13 , wherein the further conductive tab is integral with one of the first and the second conductive substrate portions. 15. The battery of claim 13 , in combination with a non-conductive material encasing a portion of the battery. 16. The battery of claim 15 , wherein the entire battery is encased in the non-conductive material except portions of the conductive tab and the further conductive tab. 17. A battery, comprising: a first conductive substrate portion having a first face and a second conductive substrate portion having a second face opposed to the first face; a first electrode material disposed in electrical contact with the first face; an electrolyte material disposed in contact with the first electrode material; a second electrode material disposed in contact with the electrolyte material; and a conductive tab disposed in contact with the second electrode material, wherein the conductive tab extends outwardly beyond at least one of the first and second faces; wherein a ledge portion of the first conductive substrate portion extends outward beyond an edge of the second conductive substrate portion, a portion of the conductive tab is disposed on the ledge portion and comprises an exposed surface substantially coplanar with a surface of the electrolyte material, and an insulating material is disposed between the ledge portion and the conductive tab, wherein a portion of the first electrode material extends beyond the edge of the second conductive substrate portion, wherein the ledge portion of the first conductive substrate portion and the edge of the second conductive substrate portion are located on a first side of the battery. 18. The battery of claim 17 , wherein the electrolyte material comprises a solvent and from about 0.5% to 2.5% by weight of a polymer. 19. The battery of claim 18 , wherein the first and second conductive substrate portions are integral with one another and a fold portion is disposed therebetween. 20. The battery of claim 18 , wherein the first and second conductive substrate portions are discrete elements. 21. The battery of claim 18 , further including an adhesive disposed between the first and second faces for securing the first face to the second face and wherein the first electrode material is disposed in electrical contact with the second face. 22. The battery of claim 21 , wherein the electrolyte material is disposed in contact with layers of the first electrode material. 23. A battery, comprising: a first conductive substrate portion having a first face and a second conductive substrate portion having a second face opposed to the first face; a first electrode material disposed in electrical contact with the first and second faces; an electrolyte material disposed in contact with the first electrode material; a second electrode material disposed in contact with the electrolyte material; and a conductive tab disposed in contact with the second electrode material, wherein the conductive tab extends outwardly beyond at least one of the first and second faces; wherein a ledge portion of the first conductive substrate portion extends outward beyond an edge of the second conductive substrate portion, a portion of the conductive tab is disposed on the ledge portion and comprises an exposed surface substantially coplanar with a surface of the electrolyte material, an insulating material is disposed between the ledge portion and the conductive tab, a portion of the first electrode material extends beyond the edge of the second conductive substrate portion, and an adhesive is disposed between the first and second faces for securing the first face to the second face, wherein the adhesive is disposed between the conductive tab and the insulating material. 24. The battery of claim 17 , further comprising a further insulating material disposed between the second face and the conductive tab. 25. The battery of claim 17 , further comprising a further conductive tab coupled to one of the first and the second conductive substrates, wherein the further conductive tab extends outwardly beyond at least one of the first and the second faces. 26.
