What is claimed is: 1. A method comprising: receiving, by a processing device, credit data associated with a media item, the credit data identifying an entity contributing to the media item and a role of the entity; transmitting, by the processing device, a notification to the entity identified by the credit data; receiving, by the processing device, a verification of the contribution of the entity and the role of the entity in response to the notification; and providing for presentation, by the processing device, the media item and a set of entities contributing to the media item as defined by the credit data, wherein the set comprises the entity. 2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising storing the credit data in a data store. 3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: creating a record comprising the credit data in a data store. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the media item comprises a video content and the entities comprise users within the video content. 5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: receiving a user selection of the entity from the set of entities; and providing for presentation a set of media items that the entity has contributed to. 6. The method of claim 5 , wherein providing for presentation the set of media items that the entity has contributed to comprises listing media items associated with the role of the entity without providing media items associated with a different role of the entity. 7. The method of claim 5 , wherein providing for presentation the set of media items that the entity has contributed to comprises providing for display a list of media items associated with a user specified combination of multiple entities. 8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the set of entities contributing to the media item comprises any one of the following, an actor, a producer, a director, a writer or a financial contributor. 9. The method of claim 1 , wherein providing for presentation the media item comprises causing the credit data to be presented next to the media item, wherein upon a user selection of the credit data, a profile of a corresponding entity is to be displayed. 10. The method of claim 3 , further comprising: adding the media item to a content library of the entity, wherein the entity is not an uploader of the media item; and causing the media item to be featured on at least one of a channel user interface associated with the entity or a profile user interface associated with the entity. 11. A system comprising: a memory storing instructions thereon; and a processing device communicably coupled to the memory, the processing device executing instructions to: receive credit data associated with a media item, the credit data identifying an entity that contributed to the media item and a role of the entity; transmitting a notification to the entity identified by the credit data; receive a verification of the contribution of the entity and the role of the entity in response to the notification; and provide for presentation the media item and a set of entities contributing to the media item as defined by the credit data, wherein the set comprises the entity. 12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the processing device is to: create a record comprising the credit data in a data store. 13. The system of claim 11 , wherein the media item comprises a video content and the entities comprise users within the video content. 14. The system of claim 12 , wherein providing for presentation the set of media items that the entity has contributed to comprises providing for display a list of media items associated with the role of the entity without providing media items associated with a different role of the entity. 15. The system of claim 12 , wherein providing for presentation the set of media items that the entity has contributed to comprises providing for display a list of media items associated with a user specified combination of multiple entities. 16. The system of claim 11 , wherein the set of entities contributing to the media item comprises any one of the following, an actor, a producer, a director, a writer or a financial contributor. 17. The system of claim 11 , wherein providing for presentation the media item comprises causing the credit data to be presented next to the media item, wherein upon a user selection of the credit data, a profile of a corresponding entity is to be displayed. 18. The system of claim 12 , further comprising: adding the media item to a content library of the entity, wherein the entity is not an uploader of the media item; and causing the media item to be featured on at least one of a channel user interface associated with the entity or a profile user interface associated with the entity. 19. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising data that, when executed by a processing device cause the processing device to perform operations comprising: receiving credit data associated with a media item, the credit data identifying an entity contributing to the media item and a role of the entity; transmitting a notification to the entity identified by the credit data; receiving a verification of the contribution of the entity and the role of the entity in response to the notification; and providing for presentation the media item and a set of entities contributing to the media item as defined by the credit data, wherein the set comprises the entity. 20. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 19 , further comprising: creating a record in the data store.
