Optoelectronic devices with enhanced internal outcoupling include a substrate, an anode, a cathode, an electroluminescent layer, and electron transporting layer comprising a fluoro compound of formula I (Ar 2 ) n —Ar 1 —(Ar 2 ) n   I wherein Ar 1 is C 5 -C 40 aryl, C 5 -C 40 substituted aryl, C 5 -C 40 heteroaryl, or C 5 -C 40 substituted heteroaryl; Ar 2 is, independently at each occurrence, fluoro- or fluoroalkyl-substituted C 5-40 heteroaryl; and n is 1, 2, or 3.

First claim

The invention claimed is: 1. A fluoro compound of formula II wherein Ar 3 is independently at each occurrence a direct bond, C 6-35 aryl, or C 5-35 heteroaryl and R is fluoroalkyl. 2. A fluoro compound according to claim 1 , wherein Ar 3 is independently at each occurrence phenyl, pyridinyl, or biphenyl. 3. A fluoro compound having the following formula: 4. An optoelectronic device comprising a substrate; an anode; a cathode; an electroluminescent layer; and electron transporting layer comprising a fluoro compound according to claim 2 . 9. A fluoro compound according to claim 2 wherein R is fluoro-methyl. 10. An optoelectronic device comprising a substrate; an anode; a cathode; an electroluminescent layer; and electron transporting layer comprising a fluoro compound according to claim 9 . 11. An optoelectronic device comprising a substrate; an anode; a cathode; an electroluminescent layer; and electron transporting layer comprising the fluoro compound of claim 3 . 12. An optoelectronic device comprising a substrate; an anode; a cathode; an electroluminescent layer; and electron transporting layer comprising the fluoro compound of claim 4 .
